Floor repair

Hi everyone,
I own a 2000 Rockwood 2501 and noticed that the floor is real soft 2 feet or so inside the entrance. Knowing this is a hot spot for water infiltration I proceeded to pull back carpet and linoleum. The result was not as bad as I expected. This worried me. If the top layer was ok then my fear was the bottom layer of this "glued panel" system was bad. I peeled back the protective vinyl underlayment and sure enough water had gotten between it and the floor bottom. The thin bottom panel is badly rotted. My question is how to proceed with repairs. I understand the strength of this component is in the fact that these pieces of upper/lower paneling are bonded to the Styrofoam center. Simply replacing the rotted section isn't the answer as you would loose that bond and the strength it provides. If anyone can share thoughts, info, or even some web links that would be great. Thank you in advance, Jim

Hi Jim, sorry to hear about your problem, have you been able to locate where the water is comming from? It needs to be found and fix first. I would either contact your local dealer and or Forest River.I have a phone number you can try, 1-574-533-5934. If they can't help you then maybe they can direct you to the right place. GOOD LUCK,

RHODECAMPER,

Have a look at THIS thread. I think the floor in the posters TT may be built similar.

BTW, Welcome to the forums.

Hey thankx for the replies folks. That Link to the Dutchman forum was great. Same type of floor here. I don't have a metal bottom like his though. Mine is more a vinyl layer. I'm hoping to avoid a job that big.

I'm stilling picking peoples brains. Wanna think this through before I dive into it.
