Fridge Fan in 2014 Rockwood
So, anyone else out there having issues with their fridge fan (at least we think it is the fan) making a loud humming noise. Seems the hotter it gets outside the more noise it makes. In the evening when things cool down the noise goes away. Similarly on cool days the fridge makes no noise.

Your fridge fan is trying to circulate air behind the fridge unit. So naturally it's going to work more on hotter days than evenings/cooler days. Do a search, lots of great info on installing a better/quieter fan.

x's 2 I had the same problem. Bearings going bad. I bought 2 12 volt fans on ebay then epoxied them together. No problem cooling now and no noise and moves twice the amount of heat and not always on anymore. then you can just use the same mounting. just splice the 4 wires to the existing. I epoxied them side to side.

Thanks. I take it this is usual for RV's and not an issue specific to our make, model & year?

You are correct, but some fans are better built and cost more. Which do you think FR put in?

I think the fridg to include the noisy fan are supplied by Dometic. FR just installs them in the RV's.

You are correct, but FR could spec. a different fan, but that would cost them more by 5.00 bucks or so.

Try standing the fan off the mounting with some rubber, it will help with the vibration. I replaced my fan and it was still noisy so I put some rubber between and much better.

Remove the fan and hook it up to a 12v battery, I used a small battery charger. Run the fan a few minutes. Doing this I still couldn't stand the noise. I changed to two lower RPM fans, together they put out 10CFM more than the single noisy fan. Also built a shroud for the top vent for a smooth exit for the discharge air.
