For decades I did the same. Now we rarely use the 5er in summer for 3 months, same procedure and same results.

I've used the clips for four years on our Rockwood 8310, we've never had them fail when moving the trailer into storage (32km) and we have a rear kitchen with the fridge on the back wall where it gets the most bounce!
If you can't use the clips what about putting a box of baking soda or powder (not sure which) in the fridge, will that possibly help with keeping it dry?

Charcoal or some ground coffee works also. Did this whenever we moved while in the military.

I have the same problem with my sob. I open the door, then close the slide with the door fully open. You may or may not have the clearances to do this but it's worth a try.

Living on the East coast of Canada with high humidity, constant wild temperature swing and cleaning the fridge with a mix of water/bleach leaving the door closed is not an option. I'm speaking from past experience ;-)

UPDATE: If I remove the knobs from the cupboard doors under the sink I can get the door on the fridge open enough to allow air to circulate.

You know on this forum people over think stuff, as I said I had the exact same trailer for 7 years, all I did was put a piece of black hot water pipe insulation on the edge of the doors, never had to remove anything. It gives enough gap to stop anything. As far as I know I'm the only one to answer you with the same model, but please do what you feel comfortable with. Have a good winter.

Our Flagstaff 8529IKBS has the same island/refrigerator set up. The cabinet knobs marked our refrigerator door too. A trip to Lowe's and we had shorter knobs that allow the refrigerator doors to be cracked open when storing and no more marks.

Fridge Door Closed When Stored
Our Flagstaff 8528IKWS has the same problem but the island doors are on the other side so changing the door handles is out. We open the slide an inch or so so the fridge can stay open. Storing it in a limestone cave facility keeps me from worrying about weather damage.
Why didn’t the manufacturer think this through? Moving the island an inch or two would have solved this for all of us. In my unit there is plenty of room for that.

My problem is that we store our camper at a storage unit that someone owns and we drop off our camper and they store it. We cannot drive with the fridge adjared it would get damaged. So we found that completly defrosing and warming the refrig washing it with vinegar water and then adding baking soda CLOSING THE DOORS for the winter. I have not had a problem yet. I also clean the whole camper when we take it out of storage (I am a cleanfreak). Also we have double slides and getting tothe refrig when we bring it to the storage place we are not going to jeapordize trying to open the slides on battery. We been good so far.

Coffee...coffee...coffee
COFFEE is your friend. Put about a cup of fresh coffee grounds in a container in each of your refer compartments. Fresh as a daisy. You can also put some Tidy Kat in the drawers to take care of any moisture. Do it all the time. JMHO BRIAN

Get some desiccant, moisture absorber. Put it in both fridge and freezer if ya can’t crack the doors. I save all the packs that come with stuff I buy but you can find it at many stores.
