Furion Rear View Camera (No Power)

My camper came equipped with the rear view camera bracket and power cable. The camera works just fine when I use the power cord for the monitor, so that tells me that is properly paired and does works. Once is plugged on the camper base cable, it seems like it does not get any power.

The camper literature has nothing on the matter. There is a hidden switch that I am not aware of?

Power to the Rear Camera is supplied when the TT running lights are turned on. I am considering a separate on/off manual switch, but may prefer to just have TT running light son 24/7 when moving - Like on a motorcycle.


The Green wire in the 7Pin supplies the power. See Image

I picked up my first TT a few weeks ago and had a similar issue. Partway home I realized the "Auto" setting on the lights in the TV had to be actually turned to "On" for the camera to work.

Well, well, well... just walked outside and turned the lights on; sure it worked !!! Dang... ! Who would guessed that one !

Hard to disagree with science. That is why I always have verifiable documentation vs opinion. Hence the image I provided - not just an opinion.


I haven't checked (do not have TT yet) regarding the auto position of the light switch. One probably has to move the light switch to parking lights on or all lights on position in daytime operations to get the green wire in the 7pin plug energized. You could also put a rag over the light sensor on the dash to activate the lights if the switch is in the auto position - lol.

I can see why is done on that way. If is connected to the Hot Wire it will be on all the time and will drain the battery. So a switch at the base might be a better choice might be a switch at the base; some that you can turn on/off as need it. As using the markers as power source, you can use the Tow Vehicle light switch as the on/off switch. My vehicle has daylight running lights, so is not a big deal to turn the markers on. The rag on the sensor is a great idea, the lights will shut off when the engine turned off.

Just FYI,
If you wan this to be a Observation ( on while Driving Camera) You should be sure to order a Observation system from Furrion, no a Buck Camera system.
The Observation system comes with external Antenna of the receiver unit to provide better reception from the camera. It works great. If you get the Back-up camera system it while break up and lose reception while driving down the road. My trailer is 31'so I could not even get reception while driving. Parking works fine with the Back-up unit but not while driving.

I believe I did; stays on all the time (as long the parking lights are on). Just tried and works really neat. One of the things that like is the "night vision'. Not the best, seen better, but is way better than not having it at all.

I drive with the parking lights on during the day, since my "Auto" lights has headlights, but doesn't operate the clearance lights on the trailer. Also have the observation mode camera. I like it a lot.

Is a neat gadget. The only complaint is that is pricey !
