On the bright side he has another 5 years to solve this problem.

I think that I could get it out but it might not be pretty. Some bending is very likely & putting in a full 30# tank would be worse. Might be time to trade after 10 Years anyhow.

Best of luck solveing this problem

The bracket (retaining strap is heavy enough that you can't pull the bottle 'straight out the door' but it is flexible enough that when the retaining screw/wing nut is loosened, it pulls apart enough to get the bottle out.

There are 'legs' that go down from the strap and are screwed to the bottom plate. You can't get to these screws unless you remove the bottle but you don't need to.

There is no need to cut anything, bend any lips or grind.
Simply remove the pigtail, remove the screw/wing nut from the retaining strap and tilt the bottle towards you and lift.

If he can't get the cylinder out now, I don't think he would be able to get a 4 foot grinder in there.

Seriously though and typos aside, as 5picker has explained, it can be taken out without any kind of modifications.

We have 2014 Ultralite 8282WS and had the same problem. I took mine to a local shop and they cut the band around the tank and replaced it with thin band and latch. Works great.
