Genesis GT-3.0 Radio

I can't get the SD card or the USB port to work in my radio. I read the owners manual, not much help. Tried several type of SD cards formatted different ways. Instructions on page 16 of operation manual on how to load USB and SD media do not work. If you set the TV to AV mode, when you plug in the media the TV goes back to the HDMI you have plugged in.
All the other functions on the radio work fine.

Check the manual or search the forum.... But I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that the SD Card and the USB have to be very small in size like 8 GB or something like that.

My Gensis radio had no power, acting on the dealer instructions I pulled the unit out and found that the fuse had blown, I replaced the fuse and the radio still didn't work. I called the dealer and they have ordered a replacement radio, they said that all the Gensis units that had problems were being replaced by another brand. I have the extended warranty , I did not ask if it was being replaced under the factory warranty or the extended warranty. Apparently they had a few problems with them. The replacement should be here next week I will let you know what happens. I'm not sure if that would apply to your radio.

The SD/USB work exactly the same (once you get them working). In other words the menu and display will operate the same.

As noted, the max size is 8Gig for either.

If you can play a dvd successfully from the unit to the TV with picture and sound the SD/USB "should" work as well (so it is not a connection issue).

The easiest thing to try to see if working is to use an 8 Gig or less SD card in your digital camera, take a few pictures and try in the Genesis. It "should" read the jpg files and display a menu so you can select them and view them.

If this works move into MP3 files.

you can ONLY use the file types listed in the manual. Others will not work.

While you replaced the fuse behind the radio, o you know for certain there is power at the radio?

There is another fuse in the converter you should check. You can also, use a 12V test light or multimeter at the radio to verify power and ground.

The Genesis radios have been replaced with iRV radios. What model Genesis do you have and I can tell you what iRV model you will receive?

I have the Genesis 3.0. yes I checked the fuse in the convertor it was good I replaced it anyway. All indications power going to the radio. The radio worked fine last year, but will not power up this year. Even though I have not had any problems with mice, I inspected the wires closely after I pulled the radio. there were several wires that were not connected but they were for other functions. Forrest River will not get any rewards for neatness on their wiring , but I guess it worked ( at least for 1 year ) It seems like a nice radio, just way to many functions for me. I personally prefer the KISS method ( keep it simple stupid ). I wouldn't even attempt to install the replacement radio it looks a little more complicated than plug and play.

Hi Charles,

Unfortunately, the only way to really tell if there is power to the radio is either with a 12V test light or a multi-meter at the radio plug. The fuse being blown is certainly cause for concern as it is a rare occurrence.

As far as replacing the radio, it really is not that bad especially if you simply remove and connect one plug at at time. If you get an iRV as a replacement there is an adapter harness so rewiring will not be necessary.
