This company does the majority of hitches for Lexus in the Houston area.
My Jeep is only rated for 350lb tongue weight... I'm going to get a weight distribution hitch/system to make it work!

That was the problem the way the under body was configured would not allow them to put one on. I was looking at getting the Suburu Ascent Touring Edition when it comes out anyway. I think it will be a good match to the Geo Pro

I hope it works out for you, and you get to enjoy the Summer. If you haven’t purchased the GEO yet, RVW gave me a good deal on a 19FBS with all options

I think you're confused - the weight distribution hitch goes on the trailer, not on your car. It reduces the tongue weight & helps keep your car from sagging in the back with the weight of the trailer on it.

I understand, but there was no way to adjust or support the frame of the car to use a weight distribution system. It just falls under a safety issue and a risk I’m not willing to take.

It doesn't attach to the car in any way.... Just need the regular receiver on your car

I’m going by what the experts tell me, and they are saying they could not install a hitch on the car capable of taking the weight of the 19FBS.

While the weight distribution hitch (WDH) doesn't "attach" to the car, it slides into the receiver and applies a rotational force to the receiver and thus to the car, in order to raise the rear of the vehicle while lowering the front of the vehicle. Both the receiver and the vehicle have to be able to handle this rotational force.

SO: Not all receivers are qualified to be used with WDH's, as they can't take the rotational forces. And I would guess that most "cars" would not have a hitch available that would be qualified for a WDH, and probably couldn't handle the forces, as most cars these days have no frames. Larger SUV's can do it, but not too many cars. I'm sure your Jeep has a real frame.

You guys should also be checking out your tow vehicles payload capacity (on a sticker on your drivers door frame). Most vehicles exceed payload before they ever exceed "towing capacity." Your payload value has to include the actual trailers tongue weight, PLUS the weight of the WDH, PLUS the weight of all occupants and their "stuff." This is where most newbies mess up.

Ignore dry weights and dry hitch weights. They're a marketing tool for suckers. If you haven't actually weighed your TT (usually because you haven't bought it yet), take the GVWR on the sticker on the street side of the TT and multiply it by 12-15% to get an estimated tongue weight. IMHO if you can't make it with a 15% value, get a bigger tow vehicle or a smaller TT.

Yes, that’s basically what I was told. Thanks for the clarification. We will see how it goes when the Ascent comes out it is supposed to be equipped for towing

I see the Ascent is good for 5000 lb towing. You'll need to look at the payload sticker on the exact one you buy (payload number will change based on options).

Looking at the FR site, I see the 19FBS has a UVW of 2962 lbs and a CCC of 898 lbs, so the GVWR is going to be about 3860 lbs. So the tongue weight could be as high as 579 lbs. Add 100 lbs for a WDH and you're looking at 679 lbs on your Ascents hitch. So subtract that from it's payload sticker number and you'll know how much you have left for you, wife, kids, dogs and stuff.

I'll be looking at different bin sizes & orientations.
Does anyone know if the empty space under the couch accessible by just lifting up on the front of the couch? Or is this mod the only way to access the empty space under there??

The fascia is held in place by screws & L brackets which you can access by lifting the seat.

Can you put things down in there by just lifting the seat? Or does it not open enough for that?

No, there is carpeted decking below for the sofa to rest on. The top of the fascia is where it attaches to that decking.

I have a 19FBS, and can't turn off the outside speaker.. BUT you can play the TV sound thru the speakers, which sounds better.
