GFCI shore power problem

Hi, I just joined the forum and have a 2008 Rockwood 8288SS 5th wheel. I have plugged the RV into the same GFCI outlet w/o problem until yesterday. Now every time I plug it in, it trips the gfci. I installed a new gfci, but had the same problem.
I tried it on a different gfci outlet and it did the same thing. However I can use a normal outlet w/o any problem, i.e. it provides power to the rv w/o tripping any c/b's.
I would appreciate any ideas of what the problem could be and a fix.

Sounds like the GFCI is working properly and has detected a ground fault. I suggest you Google Ground Fault for methods of tracking it down.

I wouldn't suggest plugging your camper into a gfci anyway.
Plug it into the normal outlet or put a normal outlet in.

Sometimes gfci receptacles don't play nice with campers.

This is just a suggestion: completely disconnect your water heater (remove supply wires) and then plug your trailer into the GFCI again and see if it trips......on occasion the water heater element has burnt out and is tracking thus tripping GFCI....and it will not trip on a regular breaker.

Hey, this forum is ok. Thanks for all the replies and suggestions. I did some trouble shooting by flipping off all of the RV circuits breakers and turning back on one at a time. When I turned on a c/b labeled "opt water hrt" it tripped the gfci. I think Fonzie hit the nail on the head and I'm going to order a new element. Also thanks for advising that a gfci outlet is not required but it is outside near a faucet so it will stay and hopefully the element will solve the problem.Again, Thanks..

I had a 2001 Keystone Lite House.I plug in to the regular plug and it keep on kickin .I found out my plug on the end was bad.By coming back home plugin in to a ground fault and it kick so I change the end and didn't have any other problem with it. Good Luck

Depending on your heater might be able to get the element at Lowes or HD. Burned mine up once and got it in the heating isle. Just make sure to get the 120 version not the 220.
