Ground Clearance
Hello Everyone,
My first post, and my New RV. I just recieved my 2011 Rockwood 8315bss. There are a few design changes to the floorplan of the bedroom, that really helped, and I was on the first production run of this design.
I am towing it with a 2010 Nissan Titan. I towed it home with the old standby weight distrubution hitch, and just installed my new ProPride 3p. I know it is overkill, but I almost wrecked my previous rig because of an unexpected, uncontrolable sway. And yes, it was setup correctly including the friction swaybar.
Anyway, here is my first question. If I get the trailer level, weight distrubution setup correctly, I have 7-8" of clearance on the weight distrubution bars. This is due to the hitch being welded to the bottom of the frame.
I had a good 12" with my previous rig. I have had to build a couple of ramps to get the trailer in my driveway, or the hitch will drag when I back it in.
Is it safe to tow with this kind of clearance?
Any idea of what kind of clearance you guys have when hooked up?
With the old design hitch, I had 8" of clearance, the propride is a little lower, 7"
Any advice is appreciated.
Chris
