Hardwired EMS void warranty ?

We will be taking delivery of a 2017 Rockwood 8312ss in the next couple weeks.
Will the installation of a hardwired EMS void my warranty ?

Hmmmm. Never thought about it. I assume if the dealer installs it would be within the specs...meaning it was on there when YOU took possession.

Personally they would be hard pressed(even though they could) to void a warranty on something that protects the electrical system.

How can something that is specifically designed to protect your electrical system (and Will!) void your warranty?

BTW, EMSs are installed on every high end coach that I am aware of, so they must be good for something

Because it alters the factory wiring....and gives them an excuse.

I have the portable and wish I would have gone with the hard wired version. It works great for what it is, very stable electrically, built like a rock to last forever, etc so no complaints there. But moving it around and plugging and unplugging and locking it so it doesn't get stolen gets old pretty fast. Next year I may sell it at a loss and get a hardwired version. Just something to consider.

Thanks for all the replies. I tend to agree with Iwannacamp. I will talk to the dealer and see if it voids the warranty. If not I will have them install it. If it does void the warranty I will buy a portable EMS and install a hardwired unit in 2 years when the warranty is up.

To Captaindomon: I recently did exactly what you envision, and for exactly the reasons that you mentioned. Sold my portable and installed a hard wired. I'm very happy with the results, one less thing to worry about! (Just by coincidence, I'm six months out of warranty...)

HW EMS Consideration

If you plan on using a portable generator with your unit, check first that the EMS system will work and it will remain under warranty. I had a PI HW EMS system installed in my trailer only to find out later that using it with a Yahama EF2000iS Generator will void the PI EMS warranty. Had I known of this, I would have gone with the portable EMS system. Just something to consider.

I hard wired my portable version. Most people have plugs on their hard wired version anyway. The only difference is not having a remote display. The only time I look at the display is when I have an issue. I did the same thing on my previous trailer and just moved the EMS to the new trailer.
