Help! Blowing fuses in slideout.

I have a 2012 Rockwood Signature Ultralite 8312SS.
I'm having a problem blowing the fuse for the interior lights in both slides every time I close the front slide. It happens as soon as the front slide starts to move.

I have inspected the wires that flex under the slide but can see no kinks, pinches or breaks. I was hoping to spot a short and repair it.

There is no dealer in my area so I was hoping for some direction.

Any assistance provided would be GREATLY APPRECIATED.

Tony, It sounds like a bare wire somewhere. I would just keep looking.
Troubleshooting this issue yourself is the cheapest way to go as long as it is out of warranty.

Hi, One thing you can try is to disconnect the wires at the motor. Then make sure they are not touching anythine or each other. Then try to operate the slide. If the fuse blows then there is a short somewhere in the wiring. If the fuse dosen't blow it could be the motor. Hope this helps.

I have a wire loom under my slide. It is located at the outer edge and conceals the spot where the wires are jointed together. I had a loose wire in one of the butt joints. You might have the same problem. When the slide was moved the wire would come loose and I would lose the lights. You might have the same problem but instead of loosing power to the lights the wire is making contact with the ground of the unit and blowing the fuse. It might not be the same problem but is a place to start.

Wow this is becoming frustrating.

The motors are on the opposite side of the trailer from the slides.
With the enclosed underbody it would seem that I'm going to have to drop the entire covering to access the wiring.

One would have hoped for an easier way.

It does not sound like you have a motor problem. Have you tried pulling on the wires while the slide is out to see if you can make the fuse blow.

Checked wiring to motors, appeared ok. Took down main switch panel and uplugged all connections to slides switches.
Fuse still blew each time I tried to replace it.
Loom connectors appeared to be tight with good connections.
I cut the ground wire at the loom connector and ran ground directly to battery. Fuse still blew.
Reconnected original ground circuit with marrett connector.
Cut power wire and ran it directly to battery. Fuse did not blow.
Reconnected power wire with marrett, fuse did not blow.
Removed marretts, soldered connections.
Moved slides in and out repeatedly, fuse remains unblown.
Although I can see no problem with original loom connections, they must have been the problem.
