HELP Please....New Rockwood slideout died

Hi,
We took delivery on a 2009 8317ss within the last month. It's been parked in a campground for weekend use for this month. We've used it 3 weekends so far and next weekend (Halloween) is the big one. Yesterday as we were cleaning up to head home, my husband retracted the slide out and it just died. It went in, but then the sound just stopped. There is not sound or anything when you press the button to try and extend the slide out again.

We will call the dealer today, but I'm wondering if any of you have ideas about what might have caused this? Will be be able to manually extend and retract the slide next week?

I would speculate that such a case of sudden death (with no sound) would be the result of a blown fuse/circuit breaker, a wire that has become disconnected or a broken wire.

It does not sound as if there is a mechanical problem and, if so, you should be able to manually extend the slide. If you can, that should eliminate one potential problem area.

I would agree with Richard as the lack of sound when it stopped would indicate a lack of power.

i agree with others, check your battery, also check connections to battery, mine came loose once and my slide wouldnt work.

there is a fuse under the trailer on the driver side along the frame rail. I think it is a 30 amp.I blew one on my 8317 and had to crank it out by hand.Make sure the slide rails are lubed , sometimes there is to much drag.

I had the same problem on my '05 8315SS when I first got it. The plastic boot on the motor was not sealed and filled with H2O from a rain. Ruined the motor and was blowing the 30A fuse. Dealer replaced motor. It worked fine until the warranty expired. Now the 1/4x20 bolts that go through the link between the motor and the slide act as shear bolts and snap every 5 or 6 slide operations. I buy the bolts and lock nuts by the box and have become very adept at replacing them.
I also have the problem of the upper seal creeping forward when towing. Mine was in 2 pieces and the rear stayed in place.....I need to work on that problem

P.S. If nothing else works you can buy a 30A circuit breaker at a marine store that is water proof and install it on the frame rail in the front. I did that while waiting for a chance to get to my dealer who is 100 miles away.
