high cost of a rv

First of all this is not a big deal, I was prepping my Windjammer for a beach trip today. I will usually fill the hot water heater before hitting the road. Well today I took the little plug that covers the house water fitting and the little plug that protects it broke off, probably due to sun exposure. I went by the local rv store, they did have them in stock they wanted $5.99 for one rubber plug. I know rv's cost money to operate and to buy things we "need" , but I thought their price was a bit steep. I am just venting and will do some more shopping on line. I might just place duct tape over the fitting. More than likely I WILL purchase the $5.99 plug. Any suggestions ???

Buy it. I bought a couple years ago for future use (don't remember cost) and replaced both of mine last year. The old ones were filthy dirty and cracking. The new white shiny ones still look new after a year. I burn 6 bucks in gas in about 20 minutes, yes it is expensive.

Boat and marine parts are even more expensive.

If a $6 replacement part bothers you, owning an RV must be really stressful for you. They are a do-it-yourself project that never ends.

Owning a rv is NOT stressfull. I purchased a $60,000 truck to tow my tt. I was just venting and hopeful someone on this forum would have a alternative method for solving the issue. Perhaps some replacement could be purchased from lowes or someplace. I was just asking for advice, not critize about a $5.00 part.

When you do replace every so often use 303 on them will keep the uv factor in check and will last longer. Later RJD

Google and Ebay are my friends.. I have even taken to Swagbucks (surveys in exchange for gift cards) to help fund my "projects" aka mods.
