Hole in floor under the bathroom sink?

Purchased a brand new Rockwood fifth wheel and was putting thing in it and opened the door and could see right outside due a square hole cut out and the basement door was open? The dealer thinks it for a hamper for clothes? But if that was the case should their be a square hamper in there? So you just throw your clothes in the bottom storage? Any ideas?

When I was shopping for a new trailer, I ran across several that had exactly what you are describing (not always in the same location). It was simply a hole into the basement storage labeled "laundry chute" on the floor plans. No, I don't think it is a good idea.

Yep, that's what it is. I have one in my 02 wildcat. I love it. Put a laundry basket under it. I put a hinged door on mine using a kitchen cabinet door from an old trailer.

Yep, laundry chute.
Our Flagstaff had one under the bathroom sink and came with a white plastic laundry basket.

I promptly filled the hole with a wooden board and sealed it shut.

Yep. Laundry chute. Ours came with a round basket but we put a big square one underneath, instead. Love it.

Speaking of holes. Why do they drill a 2" hole for a 1/2" pipe ? Inquiring minds would like to know.

Our Cardinal cane with a rectangle laundry shoot opening under the bath sink. I didn’t want to give up storage spac so put the basket in the closet and cut some 5/8” plywood the size of the cabinet floor to cover the opening.

That is so the mice have enough space to get in.

It's the Fire Pole concept, 50 inch opening for a firefighter to slide down to the truck, 2inch hole for the rodents to slide down to the basement.

Our Rockwood came with a white laundry basket to fit in our basement right under the rectangular opening in the bottom of the sink or the "laundry chute." Now, sometimes your basket can slip down into the area near the door where the floor is recessed lower than the basement floor. I built a small pine shelf to make the whole area level so the laundry basket is supported and level. I can still store my water gadgets (presure gauge, T connectors, air connection for blowing out lines, etc.) under in the recess under the shelf.

Long Long time ago. About 12 years ago the Wildcats had the same hole under med cab. At time it was recommended that the locks to the pass thru be changed to barrel locks for security. Somebody back east used there ??5 ?? year old to go thru the the hole and open your door. They would clean out the trailer, have the youngen relock the doors and boy where U in for a surprise. Back then all the pass thru locks where keyed the same.

A 2" hole for mice is like a 6 lane highway for us. Better traffic flow with more mice per hour.

My Wildcat has the chute too. But what I use it for is to yell to my wife to turn on/off the water pump when I'm winterizing.

For the 2" hole question. Alot of times water lines are pre-fabbed with the fittings on the end so it needs a larger hole to fish the line through.
