Hot Water Heater --- Winterizing

All,
Finished winterizing my TT on Friday. Good thing because the bottom fell out of the temperature this weekend. I followed the MFG directions for winterizing, but have a question about anti-freeze in the HWH. I opened the by pass, closed the inlet and outlet valves, then pumped anti freeze through the lines. I did not open the valves to the HWH, so there is no anti freeze in the HWH Tank. I drained the tank and reinstated the anode. Should I have put anti freeze in the tank? Thanks,

You did good. You don't need anti freeze in the tank.

I also flush the tank, and try to get most of the water out of the bottom. I do that by sticking a wound up piece of paper towel through the drain hole to the bottom of the tank. The water will wick to the lowest/driest point (outside), and within a couple of hours the tank is completely empty.

Thanks. This is our first winter back East and this weekend has showed us Winter has arrived and I am glad that I got it done Friday. Appreciate the info. Can't wait until Spring....that is if I don't get tired of the cold and tow it South about February...... Thanks again,
