How long does it take?

Hello everyone. We ordered a new Rockwood Windjammer 8 weeks ago. According to our dealer, he has received no feedback from the factory regarding a build schedule. All the dealer says is MAYBE some time in October - that's 3 months! Does this sound right to those of you that have ordered new trailers? We are planning on taking it to Florida this winter and were hoping to get a shake-down trip in before it snows here in Michigan!
Thanks.

It sounds long for this time of the year. The demand for RV'S to be build is higher in spring to be ready for the season than to be used for snowbirds.

Yeah. I am in the same boat. The economy is going so strong right now that everyone is buying cars, boats, rv's, etc. The industrial base just cannot keep up so the orders are backing up. There are just not enough people and factories available to meet the demand.

I have given up any hope of camping this season. I will take delivery and put a tarp over it for 8 months. For me up here in New England it is hard because after I take the tarp off, check the camper to make sure everything works, the 2015 season is over if it needs repairs. It will sit in an RV lot awaiting repairs for months on end.

We campers put up with a whole lot of hassle to enjoy our lifestyle. Boaters say the happiest day is when you finally sell the boat.

Vin.

Should have ours the first part of October which still has some nice days to check the camper out and make sure everything works. most if not all the campgrounds around here will be closed by then anyway, I guess I'd rather wait now than in the spring

Thanks for the replies everyone. I hate not knowing anything about the trailer! I did find an email address for someone at the Millersburg factory where the WIndjammers are built. Maybe they will be able to give me some info. I hope everyone gets theirs sooner than later!

We went to Millersburg for the factory tour last fall for our Roo. Our tour guide was Brett Doberenz. Tour was really cool if you've never been to one of their factories and he was nice enough to take some extra time and get our build date for us as the dealer didn't have a clue.

Thanks JimandChris. Do you have any way to contact Brett Doberenz other than actually driving down there? I retired from the auto industry and it just floors me that the factories don't seem to publish their build dates for their dealers and customers. Thanks

They actually do publish them, but unfortunately its appeared to be an in house thing. We went back to Brett s office, he pulled out a binder for the roo, asked us who the dealer was. Took less than a minute. We were surprised to find they moved up the build date, just a couple of weeks earlier they had just opened a separate building for the roos. Our tour was for the Windjammers, then brett took us to the roo building for a quick tour since they were already done for day.

I'm at work right now, I have his number at home will pass it along later today.

I think it depends on the time of year they are ordered. I ordered my Rockwood A-Frame the beginning of July this year. The dealer told me they should get it within 10-12 wks. It was delivered to them this past Friday, Sept. 14th, so just shy of 10 wks. I'm hoping to pick it up next week.

DPOWLI - We ordered ours on 4-14. The dealer actually had it on order before we made the decision and we were able to make some changes. It arrived on his lot 6-27. We picked it up on 6-30 and had one day to pack everything before heading to the mountains.

Build time depends partially on how many of your particular floor plan are ordered. They will build all of one floor plan both Rockwood and Flagstaff at the same time. When your unit is set for production your dealer should be able to provide you with the serial number.

What model are you getting?

Our Rockwood 8329SS was ordered on 7/19, and arrived at the dealer on 9/6 so 7 weeks to the day.

The big white sticker on the side shows 8-15-14 which I thought was the actual build date of the trailer, but I found a Lippert sticker on the tongue that says "Chassis MFG Date: 8-26-14.

I guess it depends on the model/factory. We custom ordered a Sabre fifth wheel on 7/8 and it was 7 weeks to the day we took possession. The shower leaks but we have it!

I toured the rockwood factors in august. They were making about 30 windjammers a day. Nice looking rigs. Enjoy when you get it.

dpowli - When I ordered my 2013 Windjammer 2809W in Dec 2012, the dealer could only give me an approximate build date after talking with the factory. Once the build-sheet/order-confirmation arrived back at the dealer, information started to flow. Here's a link to one of the messages in a thread where I talked about my order timeline and the documents and procedures up until I took delivery...

http://www.forestriverforums.com/for...tml#post291961

Perhaps some of the old thread info will still apply in your order process. -ray

Thanks RIp.
My dealer called yesterday. It seems Rockwood has decided to move the 2 smaller windjammers, one of which is our 2809W from their Signature Line to the Ultra Lite Line. This change stopped production for a while and also is resulting in some feature changes of the unit. The dealer is going to the factory today to eyeball the new 2809W with these changes and is going to call this evening. In looking at other units in the Ultra Lite line, it looks like if I get the emerald package we will still be able to get most of the features we were attracted to in the first place. Hopefully will know more by tonight.
