IN Process of adding a Curved Shower Curtain Rod

I figured I would post this and to give any one out there an idea if needed on making there shower feel more roomy

I am in the process of installing a curved shower rod

Since it was on Sale I paid $27.99 for the curved Rod from Kohl's (Normally priced $39.99) - The model Rod I picked up was - Home Classics® Curved Shower Curtain Rod (Brushed steel look)
it does 40-in. length (extends to 72-in.) - the problem I have is my opening is 36" so I had to decide on how I was cutting the rod down

Here is what I started with - I cut 4" off of each piece with a hacksaw - dont use a hacksaw cause the cut will not be straight and look like crap

then I realized I had a pipe cutter so I went and got it and used the pipe cutter to cut the nasty part I hacked with the hacksaw. Looks much better now - I did use a small file to debur or clean the metal edge's so they were not sharp or rigid looking.

I hope to have it installed this weekend and will post before and after pictures.
Here are a few pictures of after it has been cut down - now I just need to take the old curtain rod down and install the end piece's and put the rod up and attach the cutain back.

Ahhhh..good to see you didnt cut your couch in half when using that hacksaw

Camping world sells an articulating shower curtain rod. it folds out when in use and folds in when it is not needed. Kinda late information for some people . I haven't tried it but it does look interesting!

Our grey wolf has a curved 'rod' on the ceiling - something we noticed the first time we looked at it
What we don't have is any kind of curtain separating the bunk area from the rest of the camper, and our bath has the sink outside it so inside it's very small.
I think I'm gonna add some kind of curtain across the back so the kids can change clothes with some privacy.
So I'm watching this with interest as well.

Finally installed the Rod today

I stepped in the shower and closed the curtain - first impression is I think I got maybe two inches out of it so hopefully that will keep the shower from grabbing me - doesnt seem as close as it was so we will see after i take my first shower with the new rod up.

The bracket closes to the door was a piece of cake to install ( I moved it close to the edge instead of where the original bracket was to give a tad more room)
The rear bracket by the Medicine cabinet was kinda a pain due to the screw's had to go thru the molding strip which it grabs the strip and pulls it - I did not do this but if you drill a shallow pilot hole this should not happen - Overall very easy to do with the right tools.

Hmmm, that looks pretty handy!!!

J/w about how the anchors would hold up to all that extra movement and force that would be used on the bar, opening and closing it. I wouldn't want it to start getting loose after awhile; then I would have to relocate the anchors (screws) and idk how many ideal 'spots' there would be on that wall b/c it is not a wood frame.

I like Matt's solution, and I think I will try that route if needed.

Plus, the brushed nickel rod looks great!!!!

I installed this rod and my wife LOVES it. More room in the shower. And when folded in, it pulls things out of the way (like shower curtain) and serves as a drying place for wet things (swimsuit, towels, etc). I had to take a little length off of the center rod but that was easy enough. (Ummm, hacksaw though, and then a little filing.)

I had one of these when I had my truck camper and it worked great. It wont give you more room but you can push up against it and it wont stick to you either because its under constant tension.

As I stated in another thread here about shower rods, I saw this articulated rod installed in an FR3. The owners made the same comment about it being a perfect place to dry really wet things while in the folded-in position.

If we didn't have the enclosed shower stall in our RV we'd certainly install this.

At home we have the bowed/curved rods in both bathrooms. Much more roomy and no shower curtain stickin to your buttocks every time you turn around.

I used the same curtain that came with the camper also
