Installing gas piston-------------

Installing gas piston lift to my cargo doors to make life a little bit better.

How many times have you been in your cargo storage area and the door or hatch falls on you?

This my fix to not only stop the door from falling on your head, it also upgrades your RV.

I have found all the parts, gas pistons, screws, brackets on the Internet at several different places that makes it economical to order and install your storage/ hatch gas pistons yourself.

Here are some of the photos of the installation and finished product on my 8285WS.

If you would like the info for your RV PM me?

i like the idea. looks like it would solve the problem of the door (while open) slipping from the catch and braining u while ur digging something out.
concern i would have would be it coming open while traveling.
came up behind a trailer that had sliding drawers inside cargo area and failed to latch them and the door. somehow, the drawers slid out and hit a bridge railing. drawer and door were demolished.
on mine, the door is made out of a thin piece of al sheet metal on the inside and a thin piece of fiberglass on the outside. the inside is Styrofoam. the real bracing is in the rim that goes around. looks like u solved the thin metal with a large pad to attach to.

Something that does not show---------------

Something that does not show that I failed to mention is the 3M double back tape that is applied to the whole back surface of the 4" square, 22 gage galvanized sheet metal. It is the gray 3M tape with the red peel off backing, not the white tape.

That's a great idea! Need to put that on my list of things to consider.
