Is this normal

I just noticed I have a ring of rust on the outside lights on my 2011 rockwood 8281ss 5th wheel. Is this normal or do I have a warranty issue?

Looks like either a poor paint job or the metal was cut after being paint. Not sur if warranty covers it or not. I would take it down and paint it.

Sitting here looking at the photos, is this rust? I wonder what type of ring is being used on this light fixture, aluminum or steele, also I wonder why they used this type of screws? It makes it a little hard to change out the bulb unless you have a torex screw driver or bit. Just curious after looking at the photos....

It is the body of the light rusting. Either pull them off and give them a light sand and paint them with a Rust-Oleum Rust Reformer primer that kills rust and finish with a color that matches the rig. These are the same lights used on school buses, they are steel. The paint is available at Home Depot. I repainted the steel under my Georgetowne with this paint and several other projects over the years. It does kill the rust. I would also recommend that you replace ALL the screws with stainless steel. My screws in my lights after a couple of years of use where terrible with rust.

My fiver is less than a year old and the outside flood light on one side is also rusting. A shard of paint about 1 sq inch pelled away and it started to rust. i plan to sand it paint it later when I get it out of storage. Never thought to enquire about warranty coverage, but I will.

I honestly don't remember exactly where I got them, but ETrailer has them. Here is a link: E Trailer They are so reasonably priced that it was worth it to me to just replace them, rather than sand and repaint.

For that price, $10.50, I would replace.
