Kw1 water filter
Has anyone found a compatible replacement for this filter. I know many have done away with the internal filter or changed it out completely. But I'm trying to just find a filter I can use that's cheaper and readily available.

I've just received a replacement filter at a cost of $39 plus change. If I want to have my water filtered I don't know any other way.

I looked all over too...nada. Guess you got to either swap the whole unit out or go to one of those outside the coach in line filters and leave the KW1 off. In reading the literature though...it seems like the filter is a bit better than standard ones even if overpriced. I'm sticking with it for now.

Me too!
Interestingly I didn't know I even had one til I decided to winterize it myself. We brushed our teeth with water running through that filter even though there as no filter in it. It had just some water and some RV winter freeze in it all year.
Thank goodness we didn't get sick. So I'm looking forward to how the water tastes with the new KW1 installed.

I am fortunate. I am able to get the filter from my dealer for $21.50 (9/24/14) plus tax. I usually pick one up if we have any warranty work to get done or need add ons. The dealer is Wana RV in Shipshewana, IN. Hope it is okay to give them a plug because I feel because all their prices on supplies/equipment are reasonable it will be a help to other RV'ers who are within driving distances.
Not sure if they would consider shipping you a couple, but that would add to individual cost.

Are you sure it is the KW1 for the waterpur units in Forest River RVs? That doesn't sound right when the Waterpur company that makes the filter charges twice that amount.

Sounds like I'll just have to dish out the $40. Once a year is not bad. The shipping charge hurts even more, guess I'm kind of spoiled with Amazon prime , I hate paying shipping charges.

Yes, I just double checked it is the KW1. I did a quick check on the internet prior and I could not find any near that price. If any one finds a similar price let us all know--because as I said I need to be in their area (70 miles away) to get it at that price. Maybe you should contact them and see if they would ship.

I don't think there is a replacement other than the K1 cartridge unless you replace the entire unit. I bought 2 K1 filters from "The Waterpur Company" for $29.95 ea + $8.50 shipping. Comes out to $34.20 ea, high dollar filters, yep. Had my RV a year, this is the first filter change, not too bad for a years worth of use. The filter in our home fridg cost more than the K1 and I buy those at Lowes

A vendor at the Goshen rally had a great deal on them. I cannot recall the specifics but I think I paid $35 for three!! I purchased one from my dealer last year for more than $35.

I just bought mine for $29 on the internet.
Not a bargain, but I can put the link here after I get home if anyone is interested.

Sure!
I removed my filter housing and it's sitting in my garage. I will send it to anyone who wants it if they pay to have it boxed and shipped. (The ol' shipping-and-handling thing)
