Look what followed us home!

Yesterday finally came and we took delivery of our new-to-us 2012 Rockwood Ultra-Lite 2701SS.

After the walk through, Dawn and I spent a few hours installing our ProPride 3P/1400 hitch, removed from our last trailer before we sold it.

It's finally home.

We had some scraping issues with our sloped driveway. Looks like we're going to be lifting this one. After this trip, we'll keep it in storage when we're not camping... until it gets taller.

Looks to me like you know what you're doing, enjoy doing it, and are having a ball.

Congrats on the trailer! Nice pics. Good job..........

Either we know what we're doing, we know someone who knows what he or she is doing, or we do a good job of faking it. It usually works out in the end. :P

Thanks!

Thanks for the kind words, folks. In response...

No puppy. I can just guess how Bella the camping kitty would react to THAT...

No camp driveway either... no time! We leave tonight for the long weekend.

Yes, the truck is a 2013 F150 - Ecoboost Supercrew FX4 max tow, long box - 3.73 rear end. Built for towing!

Where does it scrape?
I have a buddy who has this problem backing in his driveway but if he unhooks the WDH right before backing in, it allows the back end of the camper to come up high enough that it doesn't hit. He also has to remove the bars at the WDH to allow clearance at the hitch when un-chained. It squats for sure but for those few feet, he doesn't care.

Chains

One hint, crisscross your chains (twist) for safety in case hitch comes loose, it will hold up the trailer hitch off the pavement.

His chains look like mine. They are attached to the trailer at ONE point, hence you can't really "cross" them like in the old days when one was attached to one side of the frame and one to the other side of the frame. I guess you could "twist" them a couple times, not sure what that would look like - I've never tried that.

Rear stabs - and removing all of the weight distribution is what we did - it doesn't solve the problem. I have a lift kit on order from Forest River.

Hard to see, but it's already done.

It's not quite a single point but they're only a couple of inches apart.

We had a great time camping for 4 days at Coles Creek SP (NY) with a group of friends on the Victoria Day long weekend.

Aaaand the first mod is complete - Power tongue jack installed at the campground.

Second mod is also complete - I used some web strapping to secure the table so we don't have to put it down for travel.

We're very pleased with the trailer. Looking forward to having the lift kit (part no. 10-FT-22) installed so that we can bring it home. More mods planned, including a digital thermostat and a Fan-Tastic Vent 6600R and cover for the bedroom.
