Low point drains

Im storaging for summer for six months, so no threat of freezing. Are the low point drains (fulltime plumbed connectors) enough to empty hot and cold waters? Or should I take the hot water plug out and empty the filter?

Not sure if you open the relief valve on the heater if it will drain. I forgot to do that but had all water valves open when I opened the low point drains and the tank did not empty. I had even used both air pressure and vacuum on the system. My recommendation would be to open the tank.

Do you run your pump or just let it drain... no pressure or vaccum where I am.

Home with a shop vac that still has the blower discharge. I just let it drain first. I have a spare connector for the inlet of the pump so after all drains are empty and the hw tank is bypassed I connect the tube to the pump, stick it in a bottle of pink and flush the lines separately.
The HW side on mine will not flow unless the outside shower valves are open so it can recirc. The showerhead shutoff is closed at that point.

How much effort do you think I should go to? It will be chlorinated water I will run through the lines (removing filter) so if it sits too long (inside shed during summer) it wont go too yucky.

Water tank is drained. lines are pretty much drained, hw heater is drained or not, if it isn't going to freeze why worry? Probably a good idea to put 5 to 10 gallons in water tank with a couple of ounces of bleach and run through the system when commissioning, flush that through until tank is MT then fill tank and flush a little to clear the bleach, then open the by-pass to the water heater and fill. I rather like doing the bleach thing in the tank rather than city water inlet just to make sure the on-board water is good for drinking, making coffee and brushing teeth. Ever take a shower and not get water in your mouth, eyes, ears or?? Yes, we drink from the spigot but we super clean the hose every now and again.
