Mechanical Generator Rack

Well I am just about finished with my first major mod on the TT. I modified a hitch mounted cargo rack, and adapted a trailer jack. I removed the hand crank handle from the jack and replaced it with a 3/4" nut (same as the leveling jacks). Now I can use my drill to lower and raise the jack to load and unload the generator. I will try to post pics tomorrow if I get a chance...

just thought I would share my project

Pretty slick. Did you need to reinforce your bumper to handle the weight of the generator?

That is what I am still debating. I have a joint of 4x4x1/4 sguare tubing, which I will probably use to replace the stock bumper. That should make it bullet proof

that would do it as long as the frame "connectors" are just as tough

i was thinking the same thing. where the new bumper (4x4x1/4)connects to the frame, you may want to add a few gussets to strenghten the connection point, maybe even add a few flats to the frame to distribute the twist forces.

other than that, i think your labor savor is a great idea, nice to see folks thinking out side the box so to speak
