Murphy Bed - Love it or Hate it?
We're looking at a couple options for downsizing from a motorhome and returning to towing. One is the 2509S and we've never had a murphy bed...so, is it a pain in the neck or no big deal. I know it will be short for me (I'm 6'4") but most RV beds are.
When you fold it up, does it stay made up fairly well?
If you've put a memory foam topper on it, will it still fold up completely?
Hate it or love it?
Thanks,
Greg

Love it in our 2504s, have not tried a foam topper on it but it does fold up easily and stays made up.

Love it. Don't like people on the bed during the day, so we have a couch. Ours stays made just fine. We have a (non memory foam) topper, and it helped a bunch as the mattress was quite stiff.

We love ours but it does make you committed to making up the bed everyday and putting it away!
It is also not the easiest bed to make up due to how tight the surroundings are when you are dealing with a Murphy bed, but even with the slight inconvenience of having to make up the bed everyday it is well worth it.
It allows you to have a smaller trailer and still have plenty of room to move around in when the bed is away.
We also have had no issues with the comfort of the stock mattress that the bed comes with, and the heated mattress in the colder months is probably the best option our trailer came with!

We love our 2507S with the Murphy Bed. We put a foam topper (2") and a thick mattress pad on it to get it softer for us. DH is also 6'4" and seems to do ok with the size of the mattress. The bed folds up just fine with all the added stuff and everything stays perfectly in place when folded up. We love the extra room the MB gives us and love we have a couch. Brilliant idea for an RV.

Love murphy bed
We have had ours for 5 or 6 years. Fast and easy to put up and down. Never had any problems. Allows for a lot more living space and your bed is always made! The only downside is on ours the slide must be out in order to put the bed down.

We have Mini Lite 2304KS. Love that living space is not taken up with a bed. Sofa is comfortable and long enough to take a nap on.
A bit more difficult to make up, but not impossible. We line up the pillows and put the straps over them to keep them in place before folding up. The straps keep the bedspread in place. It came with a sort of fitted bedspread that we continue to use. We use regular queen sized sheets. We did put a 1.5 inch topper on ours and sleeps much better.
There is a gap at the head of the bed when it is down. We stick the extra pillows in it. Some people on forum have discussed making a foam insert for the space.

Love it...
We love the murphy bed and the room it gives us during the day. We use an extra large sleeping bag that is as big as the mattress (2 sleeping bags zipped together) for an easy bed make up in the morning.

I love the idea of a murphy bed and the extra space it gives in the trailer, but ..... in every TT we looked at (in 2012 - maybe it has changed now) with murphy beds, you lose the pass-thru storage in the front of the unit. That is a tremendous amount of lost storage space. Since it is just the two of us, my wife and I decided not to get that setup. When RV'ing we spend the vast majority of our time outside anyway so interior space isn't that big of a deal.

Murphy Bed
We are very happy with ours in the 2304ks. Added a foam topper so it is very comfortable. Fold it with pillows, a foam extender to fill the void at the head plus blankets, etc.
The side question I have is, Has anyone noticed the the sofa springs don't seem very sturdy? Ours seems to be developing a sunken area. The TT is only a year old. We are not overly large individuals!. Not sure how to beef it up or replace if necessary.

I don't mind them but DW hates them. They are difficult to make up and when camped, she likes to take a nap on the bed during the afternoon, if we are at the trailer.

Going in 3 years now with a MB in our 2306. Ours stays made just fine and is very comfortable after adding a 4" topper.
We have also noticed that the sofa seems kinda flimsy. The middle is definitely starting to sink down.

I love ours. I too am 6'4" and hang off. I am used to hanging off anyway, but not that much. Roll up a blanket and put at the head of the mattress, which moved the mattress down. Worked like a charm for me. Very easy up & down.

Just had the sofa replaced in ours due to it sinking down on each side, only owned the camper 1 year, dealer got it replaced under warrentee. They had to fight with the sofa manufacturer to get it replaced.

We have a Murphy Bed in our 2306 . Love it. We just put a topper on it this year after 4 seasons without. Wife loves it, no big deal to me. Only issue is , now that we put in the topper we have top put the straps on it when folded up for travel so the topper doesn't slide down and fold up. . Before the topper it all stayed put just fine.

As you suspected, FR has now added pass-through storage under the sofa and there is loads of room. I store my CampChef 2-burner stove, BBQ box, griddle, a 6x9 patio rug, flagpole, 2 storage totes, tools and several other items in the pass-through of my 2018 FR Rockwood UL 2304DS. The sofa is comfortable (no sags) and I store two folding chairs and a wedge pillow behind it while the bed is stored in transit. The Murphy Bed now has a good Serta matress that I find comfortable, but I like a firm mattress.

Murphy bed
We have a 2016 2304KS and we LOVE the Murphy bed. We have a 2" thick mattress topper and it doesn't interfere with closing up the bed. We also use 2 twin sized quilts. Every thing is held nicely in place with the double strap provided. So making up the bed before folding is not a big deal.
The only complaint I have is the large, dog and pillow eating, gaps between the couch back and the bed. When the bed is up and locked.
I'm a retired carpenter/cabinet maker. The first of the many mods that I crafted for our little home was a hinged, lift up, shelf that I raise up into position when setting up the folding couch.
About the 5th mod was a hinged headboard that flips up to fill the pillow (and small dog) eating void. Both these have worked superbly for the last 2 seasons, including a 1 1/2 month road trip From Chicago area through Arazona, Utah, Colorado, home. Many breakdown and set up, no problems with the trailer, the Murphy bec, or any of my modifications.
I have a few photos and written instructions that I've emailed to 14 FROG members so far.
If you would like to see them, email at guitarmechanic@att.net and I will send them to you

We have the Micro lite 1905. The Murphy bed sure makes a small trailer livable. Only problem we have is that if stuff on the built in night stands falls down, its a bear to retrieve. That area behind the head of the bed is truly a black hole. Going to fix that soon by puyting a raised edge on the night stands. We also bought a folding table to put in front of couch for a coffee table. It goes under the couch when not in use. Because it can be raised for to various levels, we also use it for additional counter space.
Overall, its a great selling point.

We bought the Lifetime 80160. 2X4 feet. Use it outside as well.
