My new 2015 8289WS Diamond

We picked up our new 5th wheel Saturday and said goodbye to the MH. I noticed one tire was a little low during demo, so they filled it up. Well I made it home and it was low again and totally flat Sunday. Quick crash course on replacing the tire. I took it to the RV dealer and they will fix it, probably the aluminum rim they believe, I pick it up tomorrow Only other issue was that while setting it up yesterday I got to watch the Bills lose in it. I figured maybe it would bring them good luck, but it didn't. We are off this weekend to Chataqua Lake KOA for a long weekend. So far I love the room and the way its set up. Very comforting and relaxing.

Nice trailer! Is it just me, or is the 8289ws the most popular model ever? I wonder if the production numbers are ever released.

I love the model, its perfect for me and wife, and 5lb pomerainum. If the kids (20 & 24) ever want to come out, then there is plenty of room also. We lover the setup.

Congrats on your unit we love ours to. Never had any really big problems. If you have those Trail Express tires, Expect or plan on getting something different. You also might want to send OC a PM and see about the awning's tie downs. They bang around alot. I'm sure you will like it as much as we do and it tows like a dream....Safe Travels to you and yours.

Searching RVTrader for a particular model (current year production), seems a pretty good indication for how many dealers are ordering.

They currently show #56 2015 8289ws and #47 2015 8329ss (TT version).
Its a very nice layout for two travelers and the occasional guest.

Thanks for the advise, yes I do have the Trail Express tires, I heard also that changing them to a D series tire is also better.

I got about 6000 miles on mine and had a blow out. I checked daily my PSI at 50 lbs. It just blew a whole in the sidewall. When that happened I changed them all to Marathon D rated at 65 PSI. Your rims are stamped with max 60 PSI but there is no problem at all. Maxiss are popular but they are all made in Taiwan now to, Marathon by GY has been good to me but even those are all made in China. The tire debate go's on forever, but nobody sells Trail Express but Lionhead. Just keep a eye on your pressure and make sure your at 50 PSI daily. I went from Virginia to Oregon and back no problem at all... PS if you have any questions either post them or send me a PM, I have been through it all. You got a great unit but things do happen and there are some easy mods to make it even better.

Scootdawg...we have the same trailer and after reading all the horror stories in posts on here, first thing I did was remove the onboard water filter...just seemed to be too many issues with it to leave to chance. We now use an external filter..if it leaks, it's outside, so I am not worried.

Scootdawg...Fellow 8289 WS Diamond owner here! We love the layout! Changed to D tires after similar air leaking one tire, the bead was rotted. After removing all 4 another was bad too. I still have the internal water filter, talking with the supplier in Goshen the biggest problem is not seating the filter and expecting the housing to do so. Push it up in the socket and wrench tighten the housing, never had a leak.

Have fun camping first time out! Get some LT tires for the truck if money permits!

Closet NFL team is the Bills to me, heck they even play in Toronto sometimes.. Go Bills!!

Thats news to me, where is the on board water filter? I would guess under the panel in the pass through? I need to remove it and look. If it does have issues, its gone. We drink bottled water and just use the city water connection for dishes and boiling.

Thank you for the advise.

6 Screws remove the panel to get to the filter. My filter does trap sand and such. I may move mine as we have a water softener now and i should pre filter the water ahead of the softener anyways. One advantage is it filters tank water.

It's behind the cabinet door that is screwed shut right next to the vented cabinet for hot water tank...it's the same panel you will remove to access your hot water tank bypass valves.

I'd further encourage changing the original tires. I've had two of them fail with no aparent cause. They were properly inflated. I added a tire pressure monitoring system. When I needed replacement tires, each time, the only ones stocked were Load Range E so, I've since replaced the other two. I didn't see the 60# Max stamp. Having the rims fail would be worse than having the tires fail which they would do also.

I have the original Wrangler tires on the pickup. I run the 44PSI rather than the 32 on the sticker. I did note that the max load for that tire is 1180# which hardly seems adequate without additional load.

Successful Trip

We got home yesterday after our maiden voyage and I love the new 5th wheel. My wife is extremely pleased also. Looking at hitting up Pittsburg KOA in a few weeks. The F150 had no issues with towing it, nice smooth ride.

I see they made a change to the 2015....you now have an extra cabinet by the stairs...the 2014's dont have that...it goes straight back to the wall...now they filled that space with an angled cabinet..in ours having that floor space since there is no cabinet there...it's the most logical place to keep the trash container...our CO/propane alarm is also installed there.

Our 13 has the large cabinet by the door, the pantry we call it works great. Behind the 2 angled cabinets store a lot of towels and shoes.
