My Windjammer Countertop Mod
I ordered the piece of Corian countertop and hardware from Forest River to add a two foot fold down extension with leg to the end of the countertop on my Windjammer 3029W. It was a breeze to install and gives a tremendous amount of extra counter space. I stole the idea from a fifth wheel on the dealer's lot and used its VIN to get the right parts.

I'll take some pictures, but I have a hard time posing them so they are the right way up. I got lucky with my OP picture.

Thanks Bruce. I have a WJ 2809 with counter extension & would really like to do like you,ve done. I have some ideas, but yours may be better.

If your using your cell phone take the pic with the camera horizontal instead of vertical and they should come out right side up. Later RJD

Well, I think this picture is sideways, but you can see the blocking underneath. I added the piece between the two pieces of plywood and used Gorilla Glue to attach it. I got the two folding shelf brackets from Amazon and the folding leg was provided by Forest River.

Very Nice mod. My Windjammer came with an extension that you have to store and then it slips onto the end of the counter when you want to use it. Did yours have that but you decided to mount one that folds down? I like yours a lot better!

The 3029W doesn't come with an extension. When I received the extension and hardware from Forest River, I was upset that they sent me the type of hardware needed to install the extension the way you are talking about -- they sent two flat slotted flanges and two steel right angle pieces to hook into the flanges. I had given the the VIN of a Rockwood fifth wheel on the dealer's lot when I ordered the extension, so I was expecting to get the same hardware which included the fold down shelf brackets that I just ended up buying at Amazon. Forest River did send the fold down leg with the extension. The brackets only cost me $7.00.
Forest River was great to deal with and it only took just less than two weeks for them to get the parts to me.

Thanks for the pics Bruce. That is what I was going to do, but worried about the leg scratching the end of cabinet when folded & traveling.

Part of the hardware is a rubber bumper that gets placed on the side of the cabinet Right where the leg hardware would touch it. I bought a nice fancy one at Amazon, but left it at home, so I will install it next weekend.

This has to be the best mod to the kitchen on a 3029W that I've ever seen. Do you have the part number for the counter top piece and FR contact information? What did FR charge?

The fifth wheel was a Rockwood Signature Ultra Lite 8281WS. It's VIN is 4X4FRLD23G1868134. The reason its VIN worked for us is because the Corian was a match. I don't know how many different colors they used, but all of the 2015 and 2016 Rockwoods on the dealer's lot with Corian were the same color. When you contact Forest River, give them your VIN, also, so they can match your Corian.
The lady at forest River who we dealt with is Crystal Teneyck. Her email address is CTeneyck@forestriverinc.com and her phone number is 574-642-8926.
Our cost was somewhere around $400.00 including shipping to our door. It may sound like a lot, but it will completely transform your kitchen.
The part numbers are:
10-14254A/Maple Corian Extension
10-853/fold down leg
There were a couple other part numbers from Forest River that would be needed for the removable extension, but I didn't need them for my installation. In addition to the parts listed, I spent about $15.00 on the folding shelf brackets and the bumper on Amazon and a few #10x3/4" and #10x1" wood screws.
If Forest River was able to forget that I had a Windjammer and just sent me everything I needed for the fifth wheel I provided the VIN for, I wouldn't have had to order any parts from Amazon. The way I did it is exactly how it was done in the fifth wheel.

I am so glad we never got around to installing one of those little flip down shelves. Your modification is much better. I will make note of these part numbers and see if we can do this over the winter. Our ice maker sits at the end of the counter so this shelf will work and the ice maker will be under it. Thanks! Another good idea from the forum.

Yeah, very nice! I checked the extension that came with my WindJammer and all I will need are the folding brackets. This will definitely be my first mod. I wonder why Forest River doesn't just do the shelf that way to begin with. Couldn't cost much more than what they are doing now. Thanks for the great idea.
