Need the straight scoop
New to camping, purchased a new Windjammer in December. Getting ready to go on my first trip. This forum helped me more than any PDI did. I am familiar with the procedure of dumping your holding tanks, you dump the black water first and then the grey water to help clean out and if possible flush tank after dumping. I was checking out my tt today and not sure which one is the black. I am assuming it is the one with the bigger pipe.( of course they are not labeled ). Trailer is still winterized will de winterize in about a week or so. The simple way is to run some water in the sink and see what valve allows you to dump it. I know for you veterans it seems like a simple question, I am trying not to look to lost on my first trip..Thanks in advance. Frankly I am embarrassed to ask such a simple question.

Yes the larger pipe is for the black tank.
Just a suggestion.
I will sanitize my water tank with the 1/4 cup of bleach to 15 gallons of water ratio and then use that water to flush the antifreeze out of the system and the refill the tank with fresh water and run that out.

And then what do you do with the flushed out bleach and antifreeze solution...just leave it in the holding tank till you can dump, or do you allow it to dump on the ground. I know the antifreeze is eco friendly...and I imagine the bleach solution is so diluted that it too is ok?

I will let the 47 gallons water, two gallons of AF and 3/4 cup bleach run out in the gravel the second tank will water part of my yard.

Thanks for the responses. Both of my dump handles are black, but I am going to fix that with a little grey paint. That way even I can't get confused.

Not sure I'd call the (pink) antifreeze "ecofriendly." It killed the grass under the camper where we dumped it (the first time.) It's relatively safe for people & animals (though lots of alcohol in it) but plants don't seem to like it very much. Therefore, we try to dump it out on gravel, pavement or dirt, or in a dump station if convenient.
Good idea about the gray paint!

X2 on the Antifreeze - the 5% bleach solution will not harm anything - including grass. In fact if your soil is over acidic, it may actually be helpful
If you are really worried about the bleach, dump a cup or so of white viniger down the drain, that will neuteralize the bleach

When I bought my 5th wheel last year the dealer didn't tell me (when I asked it appeared they didn't know) about the second set of release handles for my two rear tanks. I used a paint pen on the frame to indicate which was black and gray and also used the paint pen to mark in the plumbing compartment which handle controlled what tank. I think the paint pens are better for something you want to permanently mark. Also "Grey tank" written next to the handle on the wall means I wouldn't have to worry about the grey paint on the handle coming off and then I have two black handles again.
