New to this RV thing. Gotta question.

We just bought a new 2015 3008w. As of 1 July we will have sold our house and we will be full time RV for a time. I am trying to familiarize myself as best I can before that date. I got a lot of good info off the site so far but in my search for the hot water heater (found it and the third hinge) I noticed some kind of rectangular box directly underneath the hot water tank. It appears to have no connection to the hot water tank but it does have a LP connection. It is on the floor next to the sub woofer and I found it when I pulled off the vent on the bar stool side of the counter. Any help would be appreciated.

Looks like furnace. Is there ducts running out from it?

If it is the furnace it will have a panel on the outside of the RV directly behind it. One easy way to find out sure is to set the heat up and turn the furnace on--no doubt your answer to "is it my furnace to not" will come quickly!

There is no access on the side of the trailer. It is right behind the front door and the only thing near it is the water heater access.

Looking at the TT online, it appears to be the furnace. On the outside, I can see the WH access panel and just in front of it, I see the intake and exhaust vent for a furnace. There is no outside access to the furnace.

Yes, furnace it is. I wasn't thinking the vent would be ducted further up. I was just looking at the side where it sat. Thanks all.

A general suggestion for before you hit the road full-time. Take a couple of shake-down trips. They don't have to be too far, but stay at a couple of different campgrounds. There will always be more questions that come up, and fellow RVers at campgrounds will be happy to help and advise. Experience is the best teacher. RVs are complex machines and they don't always get delivered in perfect shape. The best way to be sure everything is working properly is to take it on the road before you start full-timing and make sure you try all the systems. That way, if you need to get some initial warrantee work done you won't have to stay in a motel while it's underway. Lastly, no matter how well you plan, I guarantee you will need stuff you didn't bring with you and most likely will bring stuff you don't really need. Full-timing is a major undertaking and bad experiences right out of the gate on your odyssey can ruin it for you. Shake down trips will help assure that you will get the most out of what can be an exciting and challenging adventure.

Make sure you have a pen and paper to make a list of the "Gee I wish we brought that" things.

That appears to be the self destruct device. You push the big red button right after your first black tank disaster!

I believe the question was what is this. And it was the furnace.

At least you found your subwoofer. I'm still looking for mine.
