I hope the dealer did not try to convince you that a half ton pick up can pull it. There are only a few that I know of that has the payload for it (F150, Ecoboost, Max Tow/Payload Pkg). My F150, 5.4, "9200" towing could not. I ran out of payload /axle gross margin before I ran out tongue weight.

Congrats on the new TT. We picked up our new 8311SS about a week ago. We noticed a bubble in the tire sidewall after we got it home. Looks like it's going to be covered under warranty. So far that's the only issue we've had.

RE: New trailer 8312ss

Welcome to the forum and congrats!

We have had our 8312ss for a year now with no issues at all. I have no problem towing my 2013 8312ss with my 2012 Ram 1500(1/2ton), 5.7 hemi, 392 rear. It has a towing capacity of 10,500lbs and the 8312ss has a GVW of just under 9000lbs. My Ram doesn't even breath hard pulling it and with the proper hitch it takes the 900lb tongue weight with no problem. My friends are always giving me the story that you HAVE TO HAVE a diesel to pull anything, not so anymore especially with the modern trucks and drive trains.

Great to see you understand towing weight and have margin for all the stuff you can take with you (in the truck as well as in the trailer).

I would allow extra time at the delivery for the dealer to hook up a weight distribution hitch/sway control without rushing. It needs to be adjusted several times initially to work correctly (head angle/bar tension). You don't necessarily need the weight distribution aspect but with that length of trailer, some sway system will prevent you from being mentally exhausted when you get to the campground after a day of towing. With your set up you can get by with the simplest of systems; a dual cam set up or two friction bars. Enjoy your new trailer.
