We're picking up our new TT next Thursday & getting very excited! Any tips on what we should do or need to know about? Thanks in advance!

Congrats on your new Windjammer 2809W. Link to Triguys' PDI checklist below from Library above:

Or you could google/bing PDI checklist for others.

We just got home with our new 2014 Windjammer. We absolutely love it! It was dark by the time we got home but we still managed to unhook & turn everything on to check it out. My favorites are the separate & more private, bedroom, (feels more like a bedroom in our house, larger shower & TWO A/C's!!!! And our Tundra pulled it like a dream! which made my DH very happy. Can't wait to take it out!

Wow. Your 2809W has two A/C's. Mine just came with the one 15K btu ducted A/C.

I didn't even know they offered a second A/C as an option in 2809W.

So, to power them both, your Windjammer trailer must have 50amp service too instead of the regular 30amp like mine?

Share more, it sounds like the 2014 year model may have more changes/options.

Have fun on your first trip. I really REALLY like mine. Got it in January.

New Windjammer

If you have the sofa with the air mattress be sure to inflate it at the dealership. The first time we used ours it had a leak and the dealer said the solution was for us to use the supplied repair kit. They would not do anything for us. Also make sure they show you how to pack it in the bed frame unless you want to store it in the draw under the sofa.

We have a rear living room with 2 recliners. When the bed is open the recliners must be moved into the door way and it blocks the exit completely. Thankfully we have the front bedroom door for escape.
Fortunately we very seldom have guests.

The sofa bed is the only thing I am not happy with on our unit. Frank

With a 2809W, one of the things I had to learn to do different from my previous little trailer involved site selection at the campground. With the large 21' awning on one side and the two slides on the other, my 2809W would not fit in some of my old favorite tree shaded sites.

When selecting your campground site, pay attention to where the bottom and top of your slides will scroll out. Sometimes the site's power pedestal pole may interfere at the bottom or a low tree limb may be the same level as the top of a slide.

Even though trees provide shade, I like to use my awning to shelter my doors and outside chairs/table on rainy days. I've passed on sites where a tree or a pole would not let me open my large awning.

Still, the 2809W is a great size compromize that accomodates more campground sites than larger trailers and fifth wheels. And, if your two A/C's don't require 50 amp service, my 30 amp power hookup gives me more site selection in older parks.

Thanks for your helpful suggestions. I love my 21' awning & plan on using it often. We're taking it out for the first time Labor Day weekend.

We actually ask the Tech to demonstrate how to use the air mattress. It seems nice when you get it up. But same problem here, it will block the door whenever it's down. But not planning on using it much; just nice to know we have the extra bed when & if needed. Thanks for your input. We welcome all suggestions being newbies to the RV world!
