Newbie purchase question

Hi there, ok, struggling with a purchase. I have a choice of getting a 2019 travel trailer, which is considered used, so no warranty. Or, 2020 travel trailer with 1 year bumper to bumper warranty. There's obviously a difference in price, about $3,000.

The other option, is to get the 2019 with a 5 year extended warranty (service contract), still cheaper than the new 2020.

Would love people's thoughts on this.

Welcome to the forum its a great place to get your questions answered. You failed to tell the forum what type of rig you are taking about. Also if there is only 3k difference someone is blowing smoke

You'll probably get more stuff covered by the factory warranty, than a 3rd party extended warranty.

what do you mean "considered" used? was it previously owned or not?

a 2019 should still come with a warranty unless it has been previously titled.

My understanding of warranty is that it starts only when the first owner takes delivery of the unit. Jay

I would suggest you get some type of warranty. Our brand new, 2019, 2109s is in the repair shop for the 3rd time to repair things that keep breaking. We've had the trailer since January and have camped in it 9 times for 3-4 days each trip. 5 out of the 9 trips something broke or an issue came up. Thankfully it is all being covered under the warranty but I wasn't expecting so much trouble with a brand new trailer.

Slimy dealer is just trying to get out of warranty. If it is new it should still be under warranty. Check with manufacturer.

Something is strange here. If the 2019 was previously owned, the immediate question is why was it disposed of so soon. If it was not previously owned, it should be considered new and have a warranty. Most 3rd party warranties have lots of escape clauses. Most of the appliances in an RV are covered under an OEM warranty from the time the 1st owner takes possession. Warranty work pays much less than walk in repairs and as such usually goes to the end of the line. A warranty can be a safety net, but it could cost you much of a camping season if you have issues. Might want to look more.

So I decided to go new instead of the 2019 used one, based on all of the feedback on this forum. Thank you everyone

I did realize that even with the one-year factory warranty, since I live in Colorado I'm really only getting one season worth of warranty, but that's definitely better than no warranty at all. So that just means we'll have to use it a lot to make sure we work out all the kinks [emoji16]

Thanks again everyone.
