Newbie Questions

Newbie here looking for his first TT. Just the wife and me, looking to do some retirement travel (not there yet, but fast approaching) and the ability to haul a grandkid or three for the occasional long weekend trip. Pretty much settled on the Rockwood line and specifically the 2604. Looking at used and have my eye on one for sale about an hour and a half from home. Trying to do as much homework (and learn as much) as I can before taking the drive to put eyes on the unit... which brings me to my questions. The unit's a 2010 model (and hence lacks the wardrobe slide).

Does anyone know when the totally enclosed underbelly and/or LED interior lighting became standard? I've asked the seller, but there doesn't seem to be a whole lot of knowledge there...

Thanks for the help... and great forum!

Welcome Shooter - The all-LED showed up in my 2014 2604WS, but it wasn't present in the two 2013s I saw at two RV shows.
I don't know when the under belly was enclosed.

You're half way to answers,
Teach

I am... and thanks! Actually, LED lighting is an easy retrofit... enclosed tanks... not so much. Still seeking answers...

It seems like they're making them LED standard on 2014. I looked at a new 2109S back in Feb. and it didn't have them (could have been a 2013), but the 2104S I bought a few months ago did.

Under belly

Good day, we have a 2008 Keystone Cougar 268 RLS with polar package with the under belly. Assumming polar means extra insulation for cold weather camping for us Canucks up here in Igloo land -):-)

As already mentioned, the LED lighting is recent change phased in on late 2013 models and isn't a difficult or expensive update to do yourself. It's really of no benefit unless you like to camp without electrical hook-up.

If the seller can't answer if the camper has an enclosed underbelly, run away from that deal!

the OP is asking about enclosed underbelly for a Forest River Rockwood product, not a Keystone product.

Dave... the seller is a lady who bought the trailer new and had it towed to a seasonal campground where it's been parked ever since. Been taken care of (she's had the campground do winterizing and general maintenance) and sounds lightly used. Hardly been towed, and used less than one weekend a month during the Summers. I figure it's worth looking at... even if the owner isn't technically inclined. Anything I should watch out for?

Thanks

Research it like you're doing now so you know what's on it and how it works. I'd drag a ladder with me to check the roof seals and moldings. Run water through all the fixtures and make sure nothing leaks under the cabinets. Take a real good look at the tires and make sure there aren't any signs of dry rot. If it has something and you don't actually see it working, assume it doesn't work. It's only 3 years old, if it's been abused it should be pretty obvious.
