Off to Yellowstone!

Well we leave on Friday from Dallas and head to Palo Duro Canyon then on to Colorado Springs for a few nights before heading to Yellowstone. We are very excited we will be taking our new Rockwood 8327 on our longest outing since we started camping 5yrs ago. Looking at a total of 15 nights! As long as my old 6.0 diesel holds out we will be good.

Any suggestions from you guys who have done longer trips like this? Anything in particular we should bring?

Ill take pictures and be sure to post as we go!

Daniel

Be sure to load jackets. Unlike TX it's still going to be cold in them thar hills. Years ago Yellowstone did not open till after the 6th of June due to snow pack. The Tetons will also probably still be snow capped and beautiful. Enjoy.

Take a good pair of binoculars for animal viewing in Lamar Valley and Hayden Valley in Yellowstone. Don’t get in a rush in Yellowstone, I can guarantee you will get into a traffic jam caused by animals, or folks stopping to see animals, or road construction. IMO, Yellowstone is the most spectacular place in the lower 48.

Sounds like a great trip; enjoy it. We have done some longer trips and rather than pack the whole closet, pick an evening to do some laundry so you can limit the amount of clothes you need to pack.

X2! We were in Yellowstone TWICE in mid-June (1990 and 1994) and it was snowing both times.

Spent the fourth of July in West Yellowstone last year, it was very warm during the day and quite nice in the early AM.

10 day forecast says lower 70's for the high, just right...
