I seen an ad on cl for drivers in indiana needed a few months ago at $1.69 a loaded mile.
I know down here there is a fuel surcharge, and a also a toll charge added as well as a $96 cdl charge for units that are over the 16k combined gvwr.
My OTR o/o neighbor that drives for fcc said he gets around $.93 or so, plus fuel surcharges in his semi. At almost 72 years old, I was trying to talk him into hauling rvs. It would be better money considering you could get close 20mpg barebacking to Indiana.

I saw a video a while back of a car hauler. He explained that the regs require the driver to sleep outside of the truck after a certain amount of hours, and also require an extended break (~40 hours) away from the vehicle. I cannot find that video now to save my life! LOL

Heres a link to FMCSA rules on hours. They are pretty much the final say on everything related to trucking
-btw the 14 hours "on time" can be driving, fueling, rest stops, weigh stops, loading, unloading etc. But only 11hours of that can be used for driving.
That's why drivers dont like being held up, cuts into available driving hours that will make you money.

Oh and you can use your time off in the berth in the truck, thats how teams drive all the time, and berth time is mentioned in the above regs.
