Talking Picking up 2012 Rockwood 2109S Today!!

Today is the day!!! I leave in a little while to go pick up my new and first TT after having a pop up for 8 yrs and tenting before that.

Thanks to this forum I feel I am well prepared for the pick up. I have:
1. Read many posts on PDIs and TTs in general
2. Printed a PDI checklist
3. A small maglight flashlight
4. Camera
5. Pad & pencil
6. Read all owners manuals ( I had the dealer send them to me in advance)
7. Bought and installed a Prodigy P3 brake controller
8. tow mirrors
9. Torque wrench and sockets for lug nut check in transit

And most importantly, one grumpy DW who does not enjoy getting up this earlier but this is my normal time, so an extra cup of tea for her

Okay, I am on my way!!!!

Sucessful Pickup!!!

Spent about 3 hrs with the service tech (Rodger) and found two minor items. The antenna would not crank up and I thought it might be frozen as the TT was washed yesterday and temps got down to 20-25 deg last night. Rodger got up on roof and found gears misaligned. Works fine now. The other was the second battery was not installed. They installed that and when I got home I opened the battery boxes and found the negative jumper had pulled out of the ring terminal. Off to Aubchon Hardware and issue fixed.

Towing was ok. Definitely more weight than the popup. Prodigy P3 performed well with some minor power adjustments

Not sure when first trip will be. We have reservations for July 4 at a Vermont State Park but we will get out before then. Most places here don't open before May usually May 15. Will dewinterize unit in May and spend this time getting familiar with the operation of everything and doing some mods.

Unhappy I am SO jealous!

We ordered a Rockwood Roo 19 on February 10 and were told we would have delivery in 8-10 weeks. Now we are being told it will probably be another 4 weeks. We are not Happy Campers at this point. I feel like a little kid waiting to get a new toy and the wait is killing me. The only good thing is now we will have a 2013. Still not happy though. How long did you have to wait to get yours?

Enjoy!!

Ours is a 2012 so it was already made and I the dealer. We purchased it at the Vermont RV show in late Feb. At that point it made it easier to sell the popup as we did not want to be camperless and if we had not found a TT we liked we would keep the popup until we did.
I understand your angst. What part of the country are you in? Camping season here wont start until May

We are pretty much neighbors! We are from Massachusetts so camping won't really start here until around May either. Our first camping trip is in June so I'm hoping we have a camper by then! We sold our pop up in October of last year knowing we would be upgrading to a Roo. Can you tell me of any nice campgrounds in VT? I don't believe we have ever camped there.

dec1952 - I was going to sell my popup last fall also but the DW was not for it. Said we would feel too pressured to buy a replacement camper.
As far as VT campgrounds, we camp in the Vermont State Parks. They are all dry camping (no hook ups) but do have dump stations. They are very clean, well run and inexpensive (~$18 per night) and have some incredible locations. Our favorite is Button Bay and we have been lucky to get campsites overlooking Lake Champlain. Here is the link; Vermont State Parks
Where in MA are you?

wbdvt-That state park looks beautiful but we have never done dry camping before. I think I like having all my hookups! I am from Ipswich Ma which is on the NorthShore-about 20 miles north of Boston. Maybe you have heard of our famous Ipswich Fried Clams?

It is and dry camping is something you should try. The facilities ( showers) are nice and only cost $0.50
Familiar with your area as the in laws used to live in Brewster

Born and raised in Georgia, VT (near St Albans).

The Ridgeline does great with stability (the Equal-i-zer certainly helps), but it sure is working on any sort of hill. If the hill is steep enough, it'll drop me to ~40mph and almost 4000 rpm. Hope the Honda truck engine likes to rev as much as their motorcycle engines do!

Yep, know where Georgia is. i work for Central Vermont Public Service and we have service territory up there. I got an Equal-i-zer e2 hitch but I hear what you are saying about working up a hill but I'm usually in no rush.

2109s - A Great little trailer

So far, we are thouroughly satisfied with our 2012 2109s. We purchased it last fall, took it on a short road trip through the Canadian Maritimes, including Maine & Vermont and are currently on a longer road trip, down in the southern U.S.; Alabama, Louisianna, etc. So far so good. Our only complaint so far is the slide-lock system. We've already popped the header board above the slide, by applying, what I thought, was a moderate amount of pressure to the slide-lock bar. Too much, I suppose, but too little, and it just falls down. We solved the problem by placing a 3 foot length of 2 X 2 against the inside of the header board and appling the slide lock to it. That way the tension is applied a bit more evenly against the length of the header board and not just in one place. Seems to do the trick.
I do have one question, however. We can't seem to connect to the cable system that some campgrounds have for the TV. I've connected a coaxial cable from their system to the trailer connections on the side and then using the TV menu, switched from air to cable. All we are able to pick-up are the TV channels that the roof antenae is receiving. Does anyone have any suggestions?
By the way the state parks in Alabama are great. Unexpectedly found Gulf State Park, on coastal Alabama and it was awesome!

We are in CA and are hopefully picking up our 2109s today! We are very excited. We too just sold our popup trailer and moved up to a Travel Trailer. So glad to be done with the popup - no more 2 hour set up!

Brand new to this forum from Iowa. We are picking up our 2109s next Saturday. Will be selling our Coleman popup we had for 12 years. Super Excited! Was on here to find ideas for camper organization and what to look for when we pick up next week at the dealers. Congrats!
