Please help locate manual crank for slide on 2004 rock wood 8285ss

I don't need it quite yet but I really want to be prepared. If someone could please tell me where I could manually control the electric slide in the event the motor goes I would be very grateful. Thanks in advance.

Generally, they will be on the opposite side of your rig from the slide itself. Some are accessed via a hole maybe 1" in diameter in the lower flashing of your unit; some are accessed from under your unit via a nut on top of the motor itself.

To get more specific, we need more info. Like what brand/model of MH and who made your slde?? Is it electric or hydraulic??

I'll guess that you have a Lippert through the frame electric slide ---- if you do a search for that, you should find several specific manuals. You can confirm that is what you have and download your own manual. The manual will describe how to manually open/close it.

There are several models of Lippert slides -- you may have to look around a little, but try the "through the frame" model first and see if that's not what you have.

I found the lippert manual and checked the in frame and through frame locations and neither of them seem to be what we have. I took some pictures but I don't see a way to add them to this reply.

To insert a picture, just click on the yellow box above the text that you type in the "Quick Reply" box --- it says "Insert Image" when you position your cursor over it.

To add pictures I scroll on down to "Additional options" and click on "manage attachments" and then browse your photos and download them.

The access to close / open the slide-out manually, you might have to look for an access panel in the underbelly. You may have to drop the underbelly to find it if there is no access point. Then just cut an access hole and cover it back up with corrugate plastic. Should be on the door side of your unit.

Look under and towards the back of the steps. Adjacent to where the step well meets the frame rail.

I'm going to go back and ask the obvious; don't you have manuals that came with the trailer?? One of those manuals should be a manual for your slide.

I'll assume that the answer to the question is that you bought a pre-owned trailer and the manuals are no longer with the trailer. But, if you haven't looked, look to see if you don't have a manual for your slide.

When you purchased your trailer, it should have come with a crank that can manually move the slide. Our trailer came with a single crank that can operate both front jacks and the two larger slides. The third small slide also was supplied with a tool that attaches to a cordless drill and allows for manual slide operation. If you don't have that crank tool, you should be able to find it at a dealer. Here is a video that shows the crank in operation. This is the crank I have for our TT.

Please help locate manual crank for slide on 2004 rock wood 8285ss

I have a 2004 Rockwood 8285SS. The slide is on the left side of the 5W. The motor and manual hookup are under the rear of the slide. I took a deep-well socket and slotted for a roll-pin in the manual shaft. I would have to turn it by hand with a ratchet wrench; time consuming.

Having had to retract our slide when the power went out, I know from experience that it is not that big of a deal to manually retract a slide.

Now the closet electric-gear operated slide in the bedroom is a WHOLE different story!! Gimmie my cordless drill for that bugger!
