Power awning

Anyone ever have any issues with their power awning? When we extend the awning, the left side makes a horrible banging noise and kind of "catches" and once it reaches a certain point, will go out smoothly. Seeing as we're coming up on the 1-year warranty (middle of May) wondering if we should drag it to the dealership and have it checked out.

Yep, we had this same issue on the left side of our awning too when we first got our Windjammer 3008 last year. Dropped it off at the dealer for some other warranty work, and the dealer took care of this too.

Would check to make sure it is rolling up straight. Once you get it extended and it is centered on the roller, I always pop rivet the canvas on both ends with a 3/16" large dia. rivet. Solves the problem of the tube moving in the canvas and then rolling crooked.

Well I put my new light hanging strips eBay - New & used electronics, cars, apparel, collectibles, sporting goods & more at low prices

in the accessory slot of my awning and rolled it back in with my new cool remote. The loud bang as it hit the side of the camper wiped the grin right off my face.

Thinking the worse I examined the awning and the entire assembly was racked towards the motor end on the awning roller. The collapsible arms were twisted so much they could not close and the motor trying to close them caused the noise.

I realized that when I put the tags on the roller I put them all on the slot, one right after each other and rolled it up. They were all bunched up on one side so when the awning rolled up, even though the material was pop rivited to the roller, it started to track off as the awning retracted.

I unrolled it; spread the tags out evenly along the roller, and retracted again. The awining rolled up perfectly and the arms closed like they were supposed to with no noise. Lesson Learned.
