prepping for "Sandy"
went to Chincoteague to check on the trailer and get it as ready as i can for the upcoming storm. stowed all of the outside furniture and put the slide in just in case there may be some strong winds. about the only other thing i could do is to remove all the food in the refrig. and freezer and bring it home in case there is a power failure on the island. not to concerned about flooding on the island... the trailer is 29" high, and if the water ever got that high the entire island would be under water.
hope every one on the east coast stays safe during this "superstorm". praying that it's mostly "media-hype"!

Good luck with the storm. Weather toads still can't figure out how Connecticut will fare. I tightened the straps on my Adco fifth wheel cover. Let's hope you don't get over 29" of rain. Trailers float, but not that well.

Hope you are OK. Just hope you do not get a tidal surge that is over 29". Being on an island my concern would be the surge. The weather news in Canada is comparing this storm to the perfect storm of "91". Where the storm makes land fall will determine the damage that the NE will receive.

The Kampers Lodge here in Wilson, NC is a full house. Nothing here as of yet, just some light wind gusts and sprinkles.
Yesterday, I went ahead and took down the canopey, rolled in the awning and stored the mtn bikes, tool and grill in a storage unit.
I'm already missing my awning and chair LOL
Before....
After..

Wilson Kamper's Lodge...*s. We stayed there two summers ago for a 2 day visit with my Sister in Rocky Mount. They were in the process of installing new pedestals in a few dozen sites. they were very accomadating people with prolly one of the cleanest outdoor pools we'ver seen. The surrounding town was kind of a run down area. I can imagine that campground as a drive-in many years ago.

they stay on Assateague, but the north and south gates are open so the ponies are free to roam and can seek high ground. the southern herd would have the biggest problem, but they generally fare pretty well. the northern herd has a larger area to seek higher ground and shelter......must work because they have survived hundreds of years.

Yea, Sid and Sharron have been working hard to improve everything here at Kampers Lodge.
Most of the sites have been rewired.
It would have also been interesting to have seen the "outdoor" skating rink.
That's Mrs Sharron in the tiger striped golfcart.
I took these pics around 6pm EST.
As you can see, the weather doesn't look too bleak.

well,Sandy has come and gone....now the cleanup. out of 26 trailers in the park, only 9 went unscathed. 3 trailers were totally wiped out by falling trees, and others had some sort of damage. going down tomorrow to check out the mess.

realebill, glad to hear you were unscathed. Sorry about the others.
My wife's family has ties to Chincoteague going a ways back, and we were wondering how things had gone.
Which campground was this?
