Question for Ultra Lite 2702ss Owners

We are always thinking about upgrading from our popup to something bigger that has some amenities of home (mainly bathroom). We love this floor plan becasue of the bunks...they would be perfect for the kiddos. My question for you owners is, how much room is there in the top bunk from the bunk to the ceiling? Pictures and videos don't make it seem that there is much room at all and that it could be pretty claustrophobic. I haven't been able to get out and see one in person yet so I thought I'd ask folks who may have one. My son is 6 and would be sleeping up there but I'd like to make sure there's plenty of room if we every have company or as he grows.

Also, how do you like yours overall? Is there another floorplan or brand you would have gone with instead?

we just got our 2702ss, I had to pull the mattress out from the top bunk to make headspace for our 14 yr old daughter.

we had a 2606 with single width bunks and the mattress was much thinner. we did not realize this when we ordered the 27022


3" memory topper solved the problem.


there are some screwy design issues with the trailer but overall we are happy. stupid things like water connections over a storage door, outside shower put directly above the electrical cord connection. also the rear storage access is quit thin to reach in. I call it the Jenny Craig door.

the ladder to accompany the upper bunk is always in the way. my daughter doesn't need it, but apex has a similar floor plan that has an incorperated ladder that is out of the way. keystone cougar also has one but had a deep slide that did not work for us due to driveway space at home. finally we looked at a travel star that was quite nice but dw did not limit the pass through storage open to the underside of bed


I will measure the space and let you know if you like but a 6 yr old should be fine with standard mattress.

Looks like the mattresses are thicker than what is in our bunkhouse (2306). I can see why it would appear claustrophobic!

With our thinner mattresses, my 8 yo has no problem on the top bunk. She likes it cozy.

Thanks for the replies. If its the same distance as other similar models with a thicker matress that makes it feel tighter it won't be a problem for my son. We too can always change out the matress for something else as he grows.
