radio issues

Just doing some spring cleaning and de winterizing my Windjammer today. Good news, looks like my first time at winterizing worked no broken pipes or leaks. Tried the fridge that worked, decided to turn on the genesis radio that controls the entertainment system, would not power up no lights nothing. Checked the fuses they look good. I was plugged into house 20amp using my adapter.Microwave also works. Is there a secret to this radio. My Jammer is a triple slide and there was not enough room to run the slides out, so I could not get to the remote control. Any ideas ? The power light was not on to the unit. Probably something simple and hopefully operator error. It would appear that the rest of the trailer was getting power I tried a 110v outlet next to the radio that had power. Any ideas ????

I think it was pulled out, because I just recharged the battery and connected it , at least I think it was on. I will check it tomorrow. For some reason I thought it was 110v. If the battery is on then I have some other issue.

Common problem for me too, only thing that I have found that works is to pull the fuse feeding it for 15 seconds and then putting it back in.

I checked with the dealer today and they suggested I pull the radio and check the fuse. I pulled the radio and found that the fuse was blown. Had a heck of a time finding a replacement fuse, finally located one at radio shack. Put the new fuse back in put the radio back in place, still no power. I also pulled the main fuse for a minute or so, still no power. I called the dealer again to see if this repair was covered under my extended warranty ? They said they are replacing the Genesis 3 when problems occur. So I e mailed the pics of the radio and they filed a claim. They said they have replaced several and that the units no longer come with that radio. They said it will not be replaced with another Genesis 3. So hopefully I will be back in business in a few days. I can't say enough about my dealer ( Dodd RV in Yorktown Va) never a hassle about any claim, absolutely top notch. I don't know how many campers have looked at the wiring cluster behind the radio, but it is a mess, several wires were not even plugged in.

Unhappy

I also have the Genesis GT-3.0 Radio system. Everything works on the unit except the SD card input and the USB port. I tried several type of SD cards formatted all kinds of ways. Tried several things in the USB port, still nothing. The owners manual states. To view, navigate and select between music and video/photo media the TV or Monitor must be on and set to AV mode. Use remote NAVIGATION buttons to navigate on screen menu. I am not able to do this, when I put the SD card in the slot the TV automatically go's to HDMI 1, the one I have my HDMI plugged into. "CARD" shows up on the radio, but no photos on the TV.

Hope you bought a couple. RadioShack is going down the tubes. Just noticed our local one is shuttered. They filed for bankruptcy a while ago.

The fuse on the back of the GT3.0 is a 15AMP blade type fuse (Blue). These should be readily available at an auto parts store.

Hi make sure that when you put the battery back in you didn't hook it up backwards? the white wire to - terminal and red to + terminal on the battery. I have read in resent posts of battery's being put in backwards and blowing fuses in the radio and inverter.

Hope this helps Tim

Bob, the fuse on the back of my radio was not a blade type, it was the old type contained in an in line fuse holder. it was VERY small, no auto parts stores carried them. I don't recall the size or amperage but it was only available at radio shack they came in a package of 5, so I would have spares however that did not fix the problem. I hope it arrives and can be installed by the end of next week, I have a trip planned. I guess I can still hear the TV it will not be through the surround sound .

If you run out of fuses, cut out the fuse holder that's there and install another one that you can get fuses for. I'd think a couple amps should be more than enough.

Hi Charles,

I thought you had noted you have a Genesis GT3.0. If so this is what the back of the radio looks like and it has a 15A Blade Type Fuse as I previously noted.

Bob. I owe you an adult beverage of your choice, I pulled the radio and just like the pic, there was the fuse and it was blown. Replaced it and I now have power, I am assuming everything else works. ( I will have to get the instructions out and play with it ). On my last attempt there is an inline fuse that is very small that was also blown, I don't know what that powers. The dealership said that they were replacing the old version of that radio, the back of mine looks just like your pic. I was unable to get the sat radio to power up, but that probably has something to do with the "MODE" button.Once again many thanks.

So I have to ask: What did that funny fuse you replaced go to??

I don't know what the small fuse protected. Right now everything seems to be working with the exception of my Satellite radio. I'm not sure if that is operator error, or the fuse went there. The wiring behind this radio is a cluster, when I pull the radio again if I can't get the satellite radio working I plan to clean it up. Does any one know the trick or button to push to power the satellite radio??? Not the one on the radio itself. If I had it my way I like to keep it simple, by having stand alone electronics. That way when something goes wacko you don't lose all functions. I have it that way on my boat, it may be old school but it works for me.
