Rats...Bumper Uncooperative!!

Since I HATE sewer hoses, I was out measuring my rear bumper in order to install a long, 4-inch fence post underneath it. (Why RV manufacturers are still using a small bumper that can ONLY fit a hose and not attachments just baffles me.)

But on either side of the bumper (on the bottom) is a metal extension with two holes in it.....grrrr... (I'm not sure what that's for...some sort of after-market thing?)

It's not anything I can remove (if I could, I would) and even fitting the post just inside of it still causes and issue with the side where the cover comes off/on for the hose.

I'll have to search around for another place to mount the post...it can't go on top of the bumper because the ladder is right there...and would probably look too redneck, anyway.

Hopefully I can find a spot near the front black/gray tank underneath the belly of the beast.

Why not under the trailer?

Agreed, 5" PVC Posts work really nice and mine are mounted right next to the sewer dump.
Since they are in the middle of the trailer, they are also unlikely to drag on anything either.

Excellent idea! What did you use to mount them to the trailer? The tray's inside those posts is genius!!

I made brackets from 1" X 1/8" strap. Sloped the mounting downhill toward the opening and also drill several drain holes in the bottom. I also used Genova PVC gutter for a tray.

You'll probably have to paint them to get black, I used three lengths of all thread through the frame to mount them with 1" perforated steel underneath.

HD has the white posts and caps but I had to order them shipped to the store as they didn't carry them locally.
The trays are PVC gutters from Lowes, there is a thread here with lots of information.

I made my "spare sewer hose carrier" out of 6" round pvc pipe. It is attached to the two rear bumper supports by 2 angle brackets that I made and large worm gear clamps. I painted it black to blend in with the bumper.

Yes they only come in white. I painted it with Krylon Fusion spray paint.

I have never had a problem storing my sewer hose with the collar that hooks onto the sewer drain in my 4" bumper.
It is just a matter of turning the collar so the 2 hooks are at the corners of the bumper and it will slide right in.

I don't think the round OEM ones have any kind of "drawer" like we can make with the 5" post and rain gutter.

X2 and it's a Rhinoflex. 15 footer in one end and a ten ft extension in the other. Just fits. No issues with ferric oxide.

I mounted my extra tube to the "ceiling" of my pass-thru storage above all the other stuff in there.

Well, I want a storage tube that fits even the big connector...so all I have to do is disconnect from the TT and throw it in.

Since it's the off-season, I can take my time so I'll go pick up the fence posts and paint and stuff and get to it. I think two will be enough for my sewer hoses and water hose. I don't want to put anything expensive in there like my power cords or tools.

Since we have many old throw rugs we use to put down around the outside doors, I'll roll those up and store inside the bumper.

Well, totally bummed, now. Stopped in at the RV lot to check out Rocky and put a cover on the A/C n the roof and take measurements for the pipes underneath.
But Forest River has the entire bottom covered and sealed. The only frame I can see is at the very front and rear bumper...and no way am I cutting into it.
