Rear Bumper storage rack
We have a 2018 Rockwood 2304ks and my tow vehicle is a SUV. I'd like to store a 50lb generator and a 5 gallon gas can on my rear bumper. I'm told this is a major no no, but if I have the dealership install a storage bracket, will it last ? This will only be used occasionally when we camp at state parks in NJ.

The reason it's a no-no is because your rear bumper is terribly flimsy. If you have your dealer install one, they either a) won't do it or b) charge quite a bit of money to fabricate a mount that is directly attached to the frame of your rig.
Also... watch your hitch weights when loading things on the rear. Your TT is a big seesaw.

Be sure to click on the attached PDF's for drawings. I carry 2 bikes on a Thule 990XT platform rack. Three yrs on the Roo; I'm starting my 4th season on the Mini Lite. No issues so far.
Not cheap from the dealer. If you have a local weld shop, they'd probably do it cheaper.
Folks will tell you "OMG - you'll void your frame warranty!" You probably will, but that's your decision. Didn't bother me.
BTW: I DID move my spare under the camper with a BAL Hide-a-spare:

Don't do it!! It may work for a little but eventually it'll fail after hitting the right bump in the road.

There are lots of people here who have done it with no problems. The people with problems are the ones who simply hang it off the bumper with no attempt at reinforcement.
I have yet to see anyone here post any REAL event where they had a problem (pics included) with a reinforced system.

Over the years I've seen a couple of trailers pulled over dragging those bolt-on bumper racks.
Or even the ones you'll see in a vehicle's trailer hitch receiver.
Unfortunately, a lot of people don't seem to realize that there are weight restrictions on those and load them up with so much stuff my jaw drops in amazement.

Bumper Support Brackets
There is a product out there called Safety Struts. With using these the manufacturer claims that you can hang up to 500# off of the rear bumper of a travel trailer or 5th wheel.
Their product is sold by them and on Amazon

I agree that MOST TT bumpers are not strong enough to support even a bike carrier safely.
However, I had two 2" square tubes welded between the frames about 1 ft apart and welded a receiver tube onto them. The receiver tube is also welded to the bumper, but it holds up the bumper, not vice versa. I carry a cargo box, or bikes, or my 325 lb motorscooter. No issues in thousands of miles of towing.

Well, my Wolf Pup 16BHS comes stock with factory mounted rear platform. Capacity of 200#.
I plan on using it. Note: The mounted spare tire is part of that 200#. My generator is 108, gotta weigh my bikes.

The generator is mounted on the bumper and weighs about 100 lbs.
The spare tire is mounted on the bumper as well, but the fold down rack has been removed.
