Recommendation for 2008 Rockwell 8265ss?

Hello,
We are long-time campers with a truck camper. We are looking to buy a 5th wheel. At the moment, we are considering a 2008 Rockwell 8265ss. Are there any recommendations for or against this particular model?

Thanks
Nancy

I assume you mean Rockwood?
Check out the floor very carefully, as these campers are notorious for weak floors. The vinyl is also prone to cracking, as it is a very low quality. But it may have already been changed.
Other than that, a very economical camper that is built reasonably well.
And you shouldn't have to pay very much for it.

Thank you.

Of course you're right. I knew it was Rockwood! My husband insists on saying Rockwell, and he was giving me the model number. So, I'll blame him!

I was wondering about the floor, I saw some posts about that. We can wait for other 5th wheels. We still love our camper, so we can be very patient.

This one is $15,999.50.

I definitely would not pay 16 grand for one, maybe 12 or 13, and only if the floor was solid.
The new ones, which are a completely different camper, and far nicer, can be bought in the high 20's.
If you are not worried about the weight, I would avoid the Rockwood altogether. The Wildcats are built better, as are the Cougars from Keystone.
It is good that you are patient, as you will probably find a great camper at a great price that way.
good hunting!

Thanks so much

We have liked the Cougar. It's good to know you would recommend that one. We have absolutely no 5th wheel experience!

I'll give you a positive report. I own a 2008 8265SS and use it about seven months of the year. Way more than most peole. No floor problems at all and very few other problems. I rate it as well worth the money. I paid $20,000 for mine and with some shopping, you can find a new one for just over that.

We had an 08 Flagstaff 831RLSS (same as a Rockwood) and used it for 4 winters in FL and never had any problems with the floor. We now have a 12 Flagstaff 8528 with the same floor construction and they are not a problem. Would I set a grand piano on them, NO, but normal everyday traffic and furniture is no problem at all.

Some folks just like to gripe!

I agree! And he hasn't had any issues with the floor in his camper either; he just likes to flame everything and get everyone worried about something that most likely won't happen.
