Reese revolution hitch

I have a 2010 dodge ram 1500 4x4 mega cab with the ram box, the question I have is do I need a sliding hitch or will a regular hitch work with the revolution hitch be enough???

How long is your bed? I have a 2006 GMC with a 6 1/2 foot box, I do not use the revolution part of the hitch, and don't use a slider. I have about 4" clearance when 90 degrees.

We have the Reese Revolution on our Rockwood 8281ss and tow it with a Tundra with the 5 foot bed. No slider hitch, just the Reese 16K. Everything works great, several times when camper looked to be right on the window, I stopped got out and looked and had 5 -6 inches of clearance. Made some pretty sharp turns backing the unit in. Bigger bed would help in carrying stuff, but not a problem.

I have a 6.5 foot bed on a Ford F150 with the Reese Revolution. No problems. However, the dealer set the pivot point from the pin where it should be for a long bed to where the pinbox meets the unit. That way the unit cannot come in contact with the truck cab as it would if it pivoted at the pin. It all works very well and the conversion took about 20 minutes as I picked up the new camper.

I have a 2012 GMC crew cab with a 5' 8" box. The revolution hitch works perfect for me. I have often had to jack knife to back in to places or sometimes make a U turn on a 2 lane highway. I am very impressed with the way it works and the hitch weight is still just ahead of the rear axle, exactly where you want it.
I told a retired truck driver friend about this new idea and he told me they were used in the late 40's and 50's on some transport trailers.

Don't know if you made a final decision or got that warm fuzzy answer you were looking for yet, I have a 2008 Ram 1500 Mega Cab with 6'3" box and a Reese Revolution. No slider. It works perfect and yes, you can do 90 degree turns with room to spare.

I have a 6.5' bed on my Silverado Ext Cab and have the Sidewinder and a regular 16K Reese and just love it as it allows me to have my bed covered with a tonneau cover while towing the 5er.

I agree with both Dunnnc and Mike101. You will not need a slider if you activate the revolution. Make sure you take out 2 3/4" bolts out and install the correct wedge for your hitch....

I just bought a Ram 1500 2015 with Ram box and now worried that the hitch will not work in the 4' wide bed. My new 5th wheel will have the Reese Evolution pin. Will I be able to work the lever on the hitch since the bed is only 4' wide?

I took the handle off mine and made a handle only about 12" long from the hitch head with an 8" T on the end.

Didn't modify the handle, I just took it off as it wouldn't fit under the "slightly altered" tonneau cover.

Not all hitches are the same size (Wide.) Look for the smallest one with the capacity that can carry the unit. Such as a 16K. Also check and see how hard it would be cut the pull handle out. A 4' wide bed would be tight. Look at a husky 16K that might work. I just looked at mine I could cut 4"or 5" off the pull handle. It only connected to the mech. by a bolt so It could be cut, From the center of the jaw with the handle fully pulled out is 23". It will also depend on the frame of the truck for mounting the rails. Hope that helps you out look at etrailers and also call them, they probably can tell you more. If you make up a tee to replace the handle it would fit easily.
