Refrigerator door in outside kitchen comes open during travel
Well the subject pretty much explains it all. I stock my fridge with my adult beverages before travel. But of course the bumping from travel knocks over some cans which in turn knocks open the door. So when we get to camp and I open the outside kitchen door I get greeted with cans falling everywhere. Has anyone else had this issue? If so, what was your fix? I have a couple ideas but was interested if anyone else had the same issue.

Well before we left I shoved a can koozie under the door pretty firmly. That didn't work. I was thinking about some sort of velcro strap but not sure how to mount it. I've seen big Velcro straps at HD that could probably go completely around the fridge like a belt. But I'm not sure how warm the back of the fridge gets. My buddy suggested to take a piece of foam and attach it to the inside of the kitchen door so it would keep pressure on the fridge door. Lots of ideas, just not sure which way to go.

Can you put the bars in, like we use on our fridge, the spring loaded ones, across each shelf, to keep things in place? Then take a couple pieces of painters tape and tape the door shut. The bars would keep the cans from shifting, and the tape should hold the door, and not leave any tape residue. Looking for quick and simple right now.

I like the foam on the outside smashed between the fridge door and the camper door .
I dont think a strap all the way around will work , it might smash the cooling coils in the rear if there is some there .
Ive considered a hasp mounted to the side and wraps around the front with a latch on it .
But really shouldnt have to do that .
what about some kind of folding catch at the bottom of the door that when in transport you move it up to block door and fold down when camping ?

I believe you want something like this.
Boat-N-RV Warehouse Online Store
Standard issue on boats. I would assume you need the same since it is just a normal fridge and not a locking door like inside the camper.

We just use the spring tension curtain rods from Wally World:
Walmart.com: Mainstays 28-48" Spring Tension Rod, White: Bath
They haven't failed me yet.

Yahtzee!! That might just be the ticket! Just not sure where it would mount.

Ok that handles the door lock.
Just ordered mine.
Now to keep beverages from moving so as they don't come rolling out after trip.

We used a hasp on the door with the dorm size refrigerator we used to use for tent camping. It worked great. Ours came open last time out also. The hasp is a quick and easy fix.

We use these in both the fridge as well as the pantry. Got them at Walmart.

I think that the spring loaded curtain rod may work to keep things from shifting. I know they also make fridge bars at RV stores and Walmart. They may work as well.

I use the above referenced fridge bars along with velcro on the door.
Really no need to overthink this.

How and where do you use the Velcro?

We had the same thing happen to us on or last campout. We had a few 2 liter bottles of pop in the outside fridge. When I opened the kitchen, they came rolling out. I was thinking about just baby proofing our fridge door with something like this ( Amazon.com: Parent Units Fridge Guard, Clear: Baby). But, I do like the idea of the bars also, that way I still have nor surprises when I open the door.

They are two versions, a 16-28 and 10 -17 in the actual frig bars
Boat-N-RV Warehouse Online Store
for our outside frig we needed the shorter version.
but my beer doesn't fall out any longer when i arrive at the CG and open the door.
