Replacing dinette with table & chairs.

After an rving absence of 15 years we are considering purchasing a "pre-owned" Signature Ultra Lite. Yet I'm not happy with the dinette and would prefer a table & chairs. Has anyone ever attempted this task? If so, how did it turn out and how difficult is it?

Also, any words of wisdom, new vs "pre-owned"?

Thanks in advance.

Gratefully,

Adrienne

can't suggest anything but wanted to bring up a point.
a post some time ago, talked about a used TT that the owner had tried to trade in. he had done such a modification, along with other major mods to suit his taste.
the dealer wouldn't take it as a trade because the mods were to his taste and not necessarily to prospective buyers.
just saying you might want to keep this in mind, if there's a chance you may want to sell it in the future.

My ultra light has the dining table with chairs instead of the dinette and that is one of the reasons we purchased this model.

Thanks for the input. The local dealer suggested I contact Rockwood directly, which I did and spoke with a factory tech in Indiana.

He said it could be done fairly easily, by unscrewing the table from the wall and the booths from the floor. Of course, there would be screw holes in the wall which would need to be patched, and the factory has the tape available to purchase. Removing the dinette would not impact the performance of the slideout.

Not sure if we would do this project, or purchase the used TT, but it's useful information.

I was impressed with the friendliness of everyone and the tech actually thanked me for considering Rockwood.

Used to me is the way to go. We lucked into a deal on ours as it was only 3 months old when the previous owner traded it in. Can you spell depreciation??

Be careful getting one that is older 5 years. You usually cannot get replacement value insurance on units older than 5 years.

As far as getting rid of a dinette, we had on in our old Trailmanor. Smart move, really made the trailer that much nicer.

Second smart move is I saved all the pieces. When our trailer was totalled after the accident, I was able to put the original dinette back in to get the full replacement value of the unit...

Thumbs up

Nice job Kooldog I was wondering though, did you have to replace the rug? I can't go look if there's carpet under the benches right now as the trailer is locked up in cold storage for the winter. Thanks, Tim

Our current TT we ordered with Table and Chairs and will likely never go to a booth dinette ever again. Just much easier and more flexibility with table and chairs.

I say go for it, just keep the parts in case you need to reinstall.

There are TT sold every day with free standing tables and chairs as original equipment. Maybe the workmanship wasn't up to par. I cannot imagine not being able to trade it in without a dinette. Personally, I wouldn't buy a TT WITH a dinette. JMHO.
