Replacing video monitor with hi def TV

Hi folks. I'm replacing the old style video monitor with a Samsung Hi Def television. Has anyone attempted to do this? Any helpful info is appreciated...

Doesn't that trailer have a spot for a flat screen TV already? If you want real HD you'll need an HD source like Satellite or BluRay.

It had a flat screen, but it's the old style that they used to put in those years ago. It's a square, cheap, computer style monitor, ran by the Concertone receiver.

Don't quite understand the question. Do you have a good understanding of HDMI (1080dpi)- component (720dpi)- coaxial inputs (480dpi)? The TV sounds great and should have several inputs. The most common is the coaxial cable. To get real HDMI (1080dpi) you will need a special video cord from your DVD player or you won't get the 1080 res. Component connection has three special cables much like the older "red/White/Yellow" cables. I have both LCD and LED type. Normally I can not tell the difference between the two (res). They do require you to "scan" in either cable mode or antenna mode, but both are normally used in the 480 res mode.

Component cables (YPbPr) or HDMI will give you High Def from a blu-ray player or another external source to your new HDTV. Either type of cable will give you the capability of viewing 1080p content, assuming your monitor displays such a high native resolution.

What I need to know is more about the connection than anything else. The old style monitor that came with the Rockwoods, had a single RCA jack that plugged into the the wall on one end, and to the computer style monitor on the other. How do I connect a regular hi def Samsung to the Concertone receiver?

The concertone will probably not have a hi res output. You need either component (max res is 1080i for component) or HDMI (max res is 1080P) or display port which is 1080P up to 4K.

Composite (single yellow RCA) will not give you hi res at all.

You may also have a DVI-D which will support up to 4K but no audio through the same connection.

We need to know what connections you have to use.

Does that Concertone have a DVD player built in? DVD isn't HD so component or composite is all it will have for connections. Most likely just composite.
Like I said earlier, if you want actual HD you'll need an actual HD source like satellite or BluRay and if you do get either of those you'll need to hook them directly to the new TV preferably with HDMI and not through the Concertone.

I have a HD satellite receiver I hook up directly to my TV through HDMI. My Genesis GT3.0 unit is HDMI capable buy I'd have to pull the unit out and find the connection on it since my trailer doesn't have an HDMI connection prewired from the Genesis.
