RKanehl-towing question

Hello, I am towing a Rockwood 8280-31' at 8200 lbs. with my Nissan Titan at 60 mph in 4th gear. Everything works well, but my rpm is only running at about 1900-2000 and I am concerned that I am lugging the engine and drive train. In 3th gear, the RPM go up to about 2500 rpm. Is running in 4th gear at the low rpm ok ?

1900-2000 rpm is not lugging an engine, if it is not overheating, you're fine. If I get to 65 with the tow/haul engaged and it automatically shifts into od, mine drops to 1600-1700 rpm. Won't pull up much of an incline, but will hold it as long as it is level terrain.

Towing in 4th gear with my Titan

Thanks for the feedback. I have an oversized transmission cooler which always keeps me below 150 degrees while towing at 60mph on the interstate. My mpg is only 9.7, but I guess that is ok with the weight and the 13' height on the 8280.
