Rock wood 2306 drawer mod

I took the blank panel under the closet/pantry between the stove and. Ink beds and converted it into a drawer. The 30amp main comes into the cavity and needs to be moved out of the way. There is plenty of slack in the wire so it's very easy. I used a single center mount drawer slide.

Excellent use of space and thanks for sharing. That is definitely motivation to see what space is available in mine.

Thanks for saving me a few minutes of my life to find there is nothing behind that panel.

I did something similar in our 2304KS. Took out a blank panel next to the stove, made and installed a 16"WX10" deep drawer. I also remade the other 6 drawers. Changed them from the crappy butt jointed and stapled plywood to Baltic Birch with qualify joinery. Also made each one substantially deeper.

Posting in your thread again because I wanted to ask you a question , and look at your drawer mod again . I have not been to my unit to remove that panel yet so I thought you might know if there is enough room back in there to mount the Progressive Industries hardwired EMS unit?

I don't know what type of trailer you have, what might be behind the panel, or what size the thing you want to install might be ? I knocked out the panel above our fridge because our previous trailer had an excellent storage space there. The space above in the new trailer was shallower, and it was a real pain to build a nice looking cabinet. But the results were worth the effort, as it provides the ideal place to put bread and munchies once we are in the campsite and set up. As in the other trailer, we found a basket that fits perfectly. For the drawer I made for the blank panel in the slide out, I could easily see that it would work. Had I been able to do that for the fridge space, I probably would not have started. In your case, I suggest that you make sure that there is enough space and accessibility for your EMS unit before you knock out the panel.

Denny B thanks for the feedback. However I have the same trailer as the OP and not really knocking a panel out. He took a blank drawer face we have in our units and built a drawer onto it. He did say the power wire is behind it so I thought that would be the ideal place to put a hardwired surge protector. Progressive says the specs for the unit are 9" x 5" x 3". One weekend I will get enough time to run to my unit and see....maybe , lol depends on the length of the honeydo lists.

ETA , the drawer face is just held on by screws.

I am wondering about splitting the door in half (open right in the middle) and use the area as a cubby. Could be a nice area to place some of my tools. I was thinking on a drawer that is not a bad idea, but I think a plastic tub/tray might give me a bit more of storage space.
