Rockwood 2109s Purchase

I'm in market for a 2020 Rockwood mini lite 2109s and I'm clueless about the pricing on this or any other RV. The only thing I know is don't pay MSRP. I would like to cut a few corners so can someone give me a ball park figure on what I should be paying for one. Going to a dealership is making feel quite vulnerable. I would appreciate any input I can get. Thanks

We paid just under 23k for ours with weight distribution hitch, 15k AC unit, tire monitor system, built in receiver hitch on back, bike rack and a few other extras Not including taxes. Absolutely love it. We are in Austin TX in it now as I type.

It depends where you are. It's about 2 to 3k more on the west coast due to shipping. Look on rvt and rv trader to get a feel for your area. Trailer Hitch Rv in CA has low prices for the west, i used an email quote from them to get the same price from my local dealer.

OP, since you live in Florida, get a quote from RV One and use it to shop. They have some of the lowest Rockwood prices and have locations in Florida and you can get an online quote.

More important than price, make sure that you purchase it from a reputable dealer. Do some homework on the dealer before you buy.

Purchase Tips

Shop online pricing for model speced closest to what you want.

Watch Youtube vids from rv dealers go on their sites, get their price and use that number as a barganing chip towards your price.

We just ordered a new Minilite yesterday, and I was able to get 2k knocked off their best offer when I showed them an offer from a dealer who makes Youtube vids on his inventory, found trailer from youtube vid on his dealer website with his lower price.

Our dealer looked it up and to get the sale, beat the other dealers price and that was a quick 2k savings.

Aggravating, but that is life.

Got to do your homework and dont "show your hand" at your dealer...

It is a game, the dealer has to profit, I get that.

You need to be kind of handy, fix most things yourself I have found.

I will not buy an extended warranty ever again. Check it over with a microscope before leaving the dealer, after that, most things that will need attention will probably be small, easier to fix yourself than draggin the wagon back for minor items.

The big items from our experience, fridge, air cond., microwave, tv have all been trouble free, thank goodness!

Good luck!

One More Thing...

You are looking at the 2109S.

Excellent choice! That is what we have, er, had.

The same floorplan, with a few extra "goodies" is available on a new Rockwood, or Flagstaff line.

It is the Rockwook 2205S, Flagstaff is the 22FBS I think...

Check those out before making a decision on the 2109S.

The issue we had with the 2109S was the doggone jack knife sofa, and on the 2109S slide platform, can not be replaced by anything else... Sofa not real comfy for rainy days stuck inside...

Loved the open floorplan, and when I saw the new model 2205S offered with theater seat options and side windows in the slide, but with the same open floorplan, we had to have it.

Something to look at before you buy...

Yes the 2109s sofa is holding me back. I agree with you on the 2205s is very nice but it is longer than I want. I even would like something shorter than the 2109s but shorter offers less. Probably will end up with 2109s but will look further be for I leap!

The jack knife sofa can be made a little better by removing a lot of the foam from the backs, which I did. My daughter still meets us for camping sometimes, so I keep the sofa. There is a post where someone removed the sofa and put in two Euro recliners. They are up on the platform 9", though.

We like our 2109S... I too didn't want anything longer.

We put a 3” memory foam topper on top of the bottom cushion (cut to width) with a fitted full sheet for our son to sleep on the sofa of our 2109s. He says it feels fine to sleep on. We can even fold the couch back to sitting position with the topper and fitted sheet on. It works well. When he is not with us, we leave the topper behind.

We looked at the 2205 before we bought our 2109. We didn’t find that the theater seats were very comfortable. Definitely not enough to justify the extra $$. If they would have been very comfortable we would have considered it. Luv our 2109s

You will like the 2109S, we like/love ours, just that sofa...

Not a big deal for probably everyone who owns one, but once something bugs me and there isnt a solid fix for it, Im out.

Just put that other model out there in case you didnt know about it.

Yeah, the 2205S is about a foot and a half longer. It is gonna mess up our parking arrangement when the trailer is in the driveway at home, but has some extra "goodies" built into it over the 2109S, so we will adjust.

Hope you find the one that is right for you and get to gettin out there with it.

Sure are fun "escape" vehicles!!

Hi All,
Good morning. Just another day in Paradise and only 101 days til Spring..... I was torn between the 2109s and the 2104S. Decided on the 2104S and love it... Either is a great TT.

Is it the foam cushions that make the couch uncomfortable? If so it's easy to replace the cheap foam with high quality stuff. We did that to our dinette cushions, made a big difference.

My wife and I find the couch to be comfortable. It is difficult to use for someone to sleep on because of the substantial difference in pad thickness (back being much thicker than bottom). We thought the couch was more comfortable than the theater type chairs we sat in.

If you wanted to re-upholster the couch, I am quite sure using different foam you could make it more functional for both sitting and sleeping. I am not sure why Forest River made it the way they did? Maybe for looks?

Hi,
Good afternoon. Just another day in Paradise. So what density of foam do you suggest for the dinette? It is a little on the soft side. Thanks, Fred

I did the lux high quality foam from foam factory. Just pull out your foam to get a precise measurement

Hi,
Good afternoon. Just a little on the damp side in Paradise. Thanks, did you also do the couch? I would be nice if it had a little lip in the foam towards the leg rest side...
Have a great day,
F
